    Abstract: In the embodiments described in the specification a toner container and scraper arrangement includes a toner bottle having a rectangular cross-section and a flexible wire mounted on a rotatable member at the outlet opening for the toner bottle. The flexible wire, which may be made of resilient metal or plastic material, extends at an angle to the axis of rotation so that it engages all of the interior surface regions of the toner bottle to release adhering toner as the rotatable member is rotated.

    Abstract: A memory aarrangement for exposure data used in multiple exposures stores gray level data which include a high bit portion and a low bit portion. The memory arrangement includes a first memory for storing the high bit portion of the gray level data and a second memory for storing the low bit portion of the gray level data. The first memory and the second memory can be controlled by separate chip selection control signals. Further, the memories are provided with two separate byte enable signals, respectively, to control accesses to a high byte and a low byte in each memory unit. In writing, the gray level data are written in an interleaving manner to avoid conflicts between data lines. In reading, the high byte and the low byte which are interleaved are exchanged before they are read out.

    Abstract: In the embodiment disclosed in the specification, an electrophotographic exposure and development arrangement has a flexible transparent photoreceptor belt driven between two support rollers and along four printing stations at each of which the photosensitive surface of the photoreceptor is charged, exposed to a light image corresponding to a selected color, and developed with toner of the corresponding color to produce a composite multicolor image which is transferred to a substrate and subsequently fixed on the substrate. At each printing station an exposure unit has a curved belt support surface which is engaged by the photoreceptor belt passing through the printing station between the exposure location and a development location with a curvature and length selected to minimize the effect of ripples or irregularities in the position of the photosensitive surface of the photoreceptive belt resulting from a set taken by the photoreceptor belt when held stationery against a supporting number.

    Abstract: A jump monocomponent development arrangement includes a dielectric photoreceptor belt having an image-bearing surface on one side and a conductive surface on the other side with a thickness in the range from 30 microns to 50 microns and an electrostatic charge image on the image-bearing surface has a contrast potential of 1000 to 2000 volts. Toner particles with an average diameter in the range from one micron to 20 microns are transferred from a developer roll to the electrostatic charge image using a bias potential in the range from 500 volts to 1500 volts across a development gap in the range from 100 microns to 500 microns. The difference between the maximum development voltage and the threshold development voltage is less than the contrast potential.

    Abstract: An AC corona charging arrangement includes a corona generating device connected through a capacitive connection to an AC voltage source and partially surrounded by a conductive shield connected to DC voltage source. In one embodiment the corona generating device is a wire having a diameter of about 50 microns and in another embodiment the corona generating device is a row of pins connected through corresponding capacitance to the AC voltage source. The presence of a capacitance between the AC voltage source and the corona generating device provides a curve representing the relationship between the current between the charging device and an adjacent conductive plate and the shield voltage which is concave downwardly, resulting in a high charging rate and greater uniformity of charging of a photoreceptor surface.

    Abstract: In the particular embodiment disclosed in the specification, an electrostatic image forming arrangement includes a photoreceptor in the form of a continuous belt which is moved past four development stations each containing a different colored toner which incorporates ferromagnetic material. At each development station a developer roll conveys toner in closely spaced relation to the surface of the photoreceptor and a DC-biased AC voltage is applied to the developer roll to cause the toner to be transferred to an electrostatic image on the photoreceptor. A magnet member mounted on the opposite side of the photoreceptor produces a magnetic field which holds toner on the image-receiving surface permitting a greater range of variation for the DC-biased AC toner transfer voltage.

The thermal roller includes a roller cylinder having an electric insulating layer attached to an inner wall of the roller cylinder, an electric resistance wire helically wound on the electric insulating layer; and a power source provided at an end of the roller cylinder and electrically connected with the electric resistance wire for providing the electric resistance wire with power. The thermal roller according to the present invention can enhance power efficiency and reduce hazard of inflammation at low costs.

    Abstract: In the particular embodiments described in the specification, a liquid electrophotographic developing arrangement includes four developing units disposed adjacent to the image-bearing surface of an electrophotographic member, each developing unit containing a different color developer. Each developing unit has an elongated slit through which developer is applied to the image-bearing surface of the electrophotographic member and the liquid developer is magnetically retained in the space between the developing unit and the surface of the electrophotographic member. In one embodiment, the developer is retained by a ferrofluid which surrounds the elongated opening and is held in position by magnets disposed on opposite sides of the electrophotographic member.
