    Abstract: A method for diagnosing a waste gate valve malfunction in a power generation system is presented. The method includes determining an actual pressure differential across a throttle valve. The method further includes determining an estimated pressure differential across the throttle valve based on one or more first operating parameters of the power generation system. Furthermore, the method includes determining an absolute difference between the actual pressure differential and the estimated pressure differential. Moreover, the method also includes comparing the absolute difference with a threshold value and if the absolute difference is greater than the threshold value, determining an operating condition of the throttle valve. Additionally, the method includes determining whether the waste gate valve has malfunctioned based on the determined operating condition of the throttle valve. An engine controller and a power generation system employing the method are also presented.

    Abstract: Condition based engine parts (e.g., movable engine parts) monitoring is disclosed. The techniques may enable detecting cracks present in engine parts while the engine is operational. In one embodiment, a system includes a wireless sensor configured to be disposed on a movable part internal to a machine and communicate wirelessly and a controller that includes a processor. The processor may be configured to initiate communication with the wireless sensor by receiving a wireless signal indicative of a frequency of vibration of the internal movable part from the wireless sensor, to obtain an acceptable threshold range of vibrations for the internal movable part from one or more data sources, to determine whether the frequency of vibration is within the acceptable threshold range of vibrations for the internal movable part, and to initiate preventative actions when the frequency is not within the acceptable threshold range.

    Abstract: A method for controlling an emission amount in an exhaust gas stream emitted from a power generation system is presented. The method includes determining a pre-catalyst emission level using a combustion engine model. The method further includes determining a post-catalyst emission level using a three-way catalyst model based on the pre-catalyst emission level. Furthermore, the method includes determining an adjusted post-catalyst emission level based on the post-catalyst emission level. Moreover, the method includes determining a difference between the post-catalyst emission level and the adjusted post-catalyst emission level and comparing the difference with a threshold value. Additionally, the method includes determining whether to adjust an actual value of an engine operating parameter based on the comparison such that the emission amount in the exhaust gas stream is maintained below an emission regulatory limit. An engine controller and a power generation system employing the method are also presented.
