  • Patent number: 10480767
Abstract: An air-cooled high intensity LED light system includes an air-cooled LED array coupled to a blower device via a conduit. Each segment of the array includes a radiator thermally coupled to the LED elements to transfer heat from the LED elements to the environment. Airflow through the radiators is accomplished by creating a vacuum within the array by drawing air out of the manifold through the conduit. A blower provides the desired vacuum pressure to draw air from the environment through the radiator fins and out of the manifold. The conduit branches into individual segments so that an inlet corresponds to each of the segments of the array.

  • Patent number: 10203102
Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) module includes a first end cap, a second end cap and a reflector portion. The reflector portion extends longitudinally between the first end cap and the second end cap. The reflector portion includes a coolant passageway defined longitudinally through the reflector portion and is fluidically coupled to the first end cap and the second end cap. An LED package is disposed adjacent to the reflector portion. An orifice bushing can be disposed within a coolant passage defined in the first end cap to restrict coolant flow through the reflector portion to preclude starvation of coolant flow elsewhere in the LED module.

  • Patent number: 8517750
Abstract: Design and integration of a UV LED curing system into a multi-station UV-curing process, such as for inkjet or offset printing. Docking ports may be permanently mounted into various stations within the UV-curing process. The UV LED lamps may be modular and may therefore be inserted into any one of the desired docking ports at variable distances from the substrate to be cured without significant loss of optical uniformity or radiant intensity. The docking ports are designed such that they can accommodate UV LED lamps of differing wavelengths and, therefore, power requirements. The insertion of a UV LED lamp into a docking port is designed such that it is accomplished without tools and may be considered a “plug and play” operation. Multiple docking ports may be mounted into a single station in the UV-curing process to allow for the installation of multiple lamps at each station.

  • Patent number: 8038282
Abstract: A UV module of this invention has connection block (optional), connection end cap, shutter, and exhaust end cap assemblies. The connection block has doweled or tapered bayonets for facilitated installation and removal of the UV module. The connection end cap has a drive train with sleeve bearings and/or torque limiting clutches. Each of the sleeve bearing cooperates with a poppet valve in the connection block assembly to assure fluid-tight integrity during assembly and disassembly. Each of the clutches allows for facilitated shutter synchronization and helps prevent drive train breakdown. The shutter assembly may include a novel coolant flow path cross over and/or improved positive and negative positive and negative retainers to eliminate or greatly reduce shutter binding. The shutter end caps may include coolant flow paths and mate with the shutters to achieve a fluid-tight integrity.

  • Patent number: 6571711
Abstract: A cooling system for a sheet-fed printing unit, including at least one fan and a cooling element such as a chilled water coil. The printing unit includes a plurality of ink cylinders, a blanket cylinder, an impression cylinder, and one or more transfer cylinders. A source directs radiant energy onto substrate being printed to cure ink thereon. The radiant energy may be directed at substrates on the impression or transfer cylinders. In response to the radiant energy, the impression or transfer cylinders become heated and transfer heat to the substrate, which distorts as a result. The fan generates an airflow toward an impression or transfer cylinder. The airflow is within a predetermined temperature range and of a sufficient magnitude to maintain the impression or transfer cylinder within a critical temperature range to prevent or minimize substrate distortion.
