    Abstract: An improved mounting mechanism for mounting and holding electronic and other devices in vehicles which increases safety in a vehicular and improves the ability of an operator to incorporate the captured device in their instrument scan. In one embodiment, the improved mounting mechanism captures a device and holds it in a housing using mounting holes located or attached to a panel while allowing for easy removal of the portable device, efficient cable capture, and proper viewing angles. Another embodiment provides an alternate mounting scheme for attaching to an instrument panel.

In addition to providing a mounting mechanism, the capture or mounting of the device incorporates a storage feature for the antenna cable to make it transportable. The apparatus provides a means for connecting an antenna to a housing, storing a cable in the housing, and capturing the housing to a docking mechanism while allowing for easy removal of the antenna, and cable storage feature.
