Abstract: A container assembly comprising a container of plastic material adapted for receiving a liquid and including a bottom of convex shape in the central portion of which the material is thicker and less oriented than in the outer portion and the side wall. A stabilizing foot supports the container and for this purposes is welded to the container in the central portion of the bottom thereof whereat the material is less oriented. The foot includes an annular projection extending downwardly from the portion welded to the container. The projection is hollow and forms an annular support foot including a rim which extends upwardly from the projection into smooth peripheral sliding engagement with the bottom of the container. The support foot is welded to the container while the middle portion of the projection is held against the middle portion of the bottom of the container.

Abstract: A method of producing a package for storing and/or shipping material, and particularly pulverized material such as coffee, provides producing an inner container for placing therein the material by folding flexible sheet material so as to form a substantially rectangular shape and securing the folded edges to each other by adhesion. The so-obtained inner container is inserted into an outer container of similar shape and attached to the inner wall surface of the outer container. One side of the inner container can be conveniently cut open for removal of material and the outer container has on its side adjacent to the side of the inner container which is intended to be opened a closure member which can be opened to provide access to the inner container and can be closed again.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for folding a tubular length of hose material to form a package with superposed layers comprising feeding an axial length of material past a pulling device onto a retaining guide, clamping the material against the guide and axially displacing the pulling device to pull a further length of material and fold the same onto the first length of material clamped to the guide. The clamping action on the material is then released and the retainer guide is withdrawn and positioned adjacent the now folded material. The pulling device is withdrawn from the fold by axially displacing the same in reverse direction to its original position and the steps are repeated to form successive folds of material to constitute the superposed layers of the package.

Abstract: A method for producing a tubular length of material which can line the interior of a bore comprising providing a magazine having a substantial length of tubular material radially wound on itself in a number of overlapping layers, pulling one end of the tubular material from the magazine and closing this end to form a tubular cavity within the portion of the tubular material pulled from the magazine. The magazine or the closed end of the tubular cavity can be supported at the bottom of the bore and a pressure medium can be supplied to the cavity to unwind the material from the magazine while permitting relative movement between the magazine and the end of the tubular material. After the bore has been lined with the material, a substance can be supplied therein which will effectively sealed from the bore by the tubular material. The magazine can be mounted on a hollow guide which serves both to supply the pressure medium to the cavity and to introduce the substance into the lined bore.

Abstract: There is disclosed a package or wrapping for powderized material such as ground coffee. The package consists of a substantially rigid outer container and an inner liner or liner made of plastic or other pliable material. The goods to be packaged are placed in the inner liner, the shape of which is so that it substantially fits the container when filled. The container has on one side an opening which can be closed by a cover and the inner liner when placed in the container has on its side facing the container opening a flat closure. The liner may be secured to the container along a flange adjacent to the container opening.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing a spiral member by cold working an elongated strip comprising attaching one end of the steel strip to a mounting plate on a rotatable axle and driving the axle in rotation to wind the strip onto the axle to form a spiral member from the strip. The strip is guided as it proceeds for winding on the axle by two spaced guide plates on opposite sides of the strip so that each turn of the strip will lie adjacent the previous turn. The position of the guide plates is adjusted with respect to the winding of the strip along a line which forms an angle with respect to the axis of rotation of the strip. After the formation of the spiral member, it is drawn to a predetermined length.

Abstract: A package of a hose of flexible material which comprises a succession of folded sections of flexible hose material superposed on one another to form a package having an inner section with an inner surface and an outer section with an outer surface. The folded sections between the inner and outer sections have the same axial length. The sections gradually increase in circumferential extent from the inner surface to the outer surface. Each section has a foil length of the same initial circumferential extent so that the sections are progressively expanded from the inner surface to the outer surface. The inner surface is of four-pointed star shape such that the folded sections are stretched over the points of the star to lie against one another at the points of the star while the outer surface is formed as a quadrangle with corners at the points of the star.

Abstract: A firm container is fed with a plastic material which surrounds the firm container along a portion of its length. The firm container has an open end which is closed off by a pair of welding jaws which welds the plastic material together and forms the bottom of a container that holds a pulverized material. Pulverized material is then fed to the bottom of the container and after feeding is over, the plastic material is allowed to fall from the firm container by moving a support table downwardly. After the support table has moved downwardly a certain distance, the welding jaws are operated again and weld a new piece of plastic material to the open end of the firm container, thus forming a bottom for a new container and closing off the top of the previously-made container. A piston is provided within the firm container for compressing the pulverized material fed into the interior of the firm container.

Abstract: In a glass container making machine using a split face mold, means are provided for controllably diverting the parisons from the mouth of the mold to a waste glass collector when the mold is closed so that at the same time swabbing means lubricate the inner faces of the mold cavity.

Abstract: A device for recovering salvagable components from a mixture of compacted solid waste, especially municipal waste, which includes ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, fibrous organic and inorganic materials. In this installation the solid waste, preferably after first breaking it up, is fed to a magnet assembly for dividing the components into ferrous metals and non-ferrous materials including ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals and organic or inorganic materials. The ferrous metals and the non-ferrous materials containing ferrous metals are then subjected to fragmentation after separating ferrous metals parts from non-ferrous materials. The resulting fragments are separated into ferrous metals and non-ferrous materials and separately conveyed to collection stations. Similarly, the non-ferrous metals and the organic or inorganic materials are first fragmented, then separated from each other and finally separately conveyed to collecting stations.

Abstract: Apparatus for identifying which of a plurality of moulds moulded a particular container includes such moulded containers with coded combinations of lens members in their bottom, the lens members being illuminated to focus light to an optical system terminating at a photosensitive device which emits pulses as the lens members are sequentially scanned.

Abstract: There is disclosed a package or wrapping for powderized material such as ground coffee. Abstract: The invention discloses an improved method and apparatus for separating the lowermost object from a firmly packed pile of bowl-shaped objects consisting of plastic film and having a bottom and a conical side wall and a brim projecting from the free edge of the side wall. Said pile is being supported at the brim of the lowermost object, the bottoms of the bowl-shaped objects facing downwardly. A suction means arranged for reciprocal movement is applied against the bottom of the lowermost object of the pile for pulling it off in a downward direction from the pile. Due to the suction effect of the suction means and the presence of an annular groove in the contact surface of the suction means, an annular downwardly directed bead is formed on the underside of the bottom of the lowermost bowl-shaped object in the area of the side wall at the same time as the brim of the lowermost object is being eased by the lifting up of said pile.
