Patents Assigned to Alcatel Converters
  • Patent number: 5798578
Abstract: A synchronization device for a redundant power supply system synchronizes resetting of tripping type current limiter devices which are reset automatically, to prevent the current limiters tripping out in cascade when the system is started up or automatically reset after the disappearance of a short-term current surge. It includes a synchronization link interconnecting all the current limiters of all the power supply units. Each current limiter includes a generator sending a synchronization signal on the synchronization link periodically and independently for each current limiter. The generator which sends a synchronization signal first resets all the current limiters simultaneously. The device has applications in electronic equipment comprising a plurality of power supply units connected in parallel.

  • Patent number: 5646836
Abstract: A switch mode power supply comprises at least one bridge arm including two switching cells in series receiving a direct current voltage to be switched. Each switching cell includes a switching arrangement in parallel with a capacitor and a protection diode. The switching arrangement is alternately closed and opened to supply an alternating current voltage at a switching frequency applied to a load one terminal of which is connected to the common point of the switching cells. A pulsed current source including a saturable inductor is connected to the common point. The saturable inductor is provided by a device including a primary circuit with two windings and a secondary circuit including a single winding to which a direct current source is connected. The windings are wound on a magnetic core and the windings of the primary circuit are connected in parallel and wound in opposite directions. A capacitor is connected in series with the saturable inductor.

  • Patent number: 5627743
Abstract: A chopper power supply of the invention includes a bridge arm constituted by two switching sections in series and receiving a DC voltage. Each switching section includes switching means in parallel with a capacitor, the switching means being controlled so as to supply an AC voltage to a load. A pulse current source is connected to the load, the pulse current source being constituted by an LC-type circuit dimensioned so that the current flowing through the circuit is delayed by .pi./2 relative to the voltage applied to the load so as to deliver current pulses for alternately charging and discharging each of the capacitors on the edges of the AC voltage.

  • Patent number: 5543245
Abstract: A system for monitoring aging of a battery comprising a plurality of cells connected in series and able to be fully discharged comprises a discharger which discharges one of the previously charged cells at a time to an end of discharge value. The quantity of electricity supplied by each discharged cell during discharging is measured. The quantity of electricity supplied by at least one discharged cell is processed to detect excessive aging of the battery. Excessive aging of the battery results in a residual capacity which is less than a fraction of the nominal capacity of the battery.

  • Patent number: 5373099
Abstract: A fixing device for fixing an electronic component (10) against a first wall (11) of a heatsink (12) includes at least one end branch engaged in a recess (81) provided in a second wall (82) of the heatsink (12) at right angles to the first wall (11). An abutment segment or support section opposite to the end branch is designed to bear against the front face of the component (10) and is connected to the end branch by a resilient segment so that a spring biased pressure is exerted on the front face of the component (10). The end branch is substantially freely engaged in the recess (81), which recess is in a direction perpendicular to the second wall (82). The end branch is held inside the recess (81) by being braced therein when the abutment segment presses the component (10) against the first wall (11) of the heatsink (12).

  • Patent number: 5276421
Abstract: Transformer coil consisting of an insulating ribbon comprising electrically conducting patterns making it possible to produce paralleling of the patterns when this ribbon is accordion folded.According to the invention, one side of the insulating ribbon (25) alternately comprises one face (34; 36) with pattern (26; 27) and one face (35; 37) without pattern, each pattern (26, 27) comprising two paralleling pads (28, 29; 30, 31) prolonging each of its extremities beyond a separation line (P1, P3) in order to overlap onto the face (35; 37) without pattern in such a way that the paralleling pads (28, 29; 30, 31) of each pattern (26, 27) come into electrical contact with the extremities of the neighbouring pattern (26, 27) when the ribbon (25) is accordion folded, in such a way as to produce paralleling of the patterns (26, 27).The invention applies especially to the production of high-frequency transformers used in switched-mode power supplies.
