  • Patent number: 6976407
Abstract: A broken bulb remover with no moving parts comprising a rod serving as a handle with a central chamber open from the end of the rod to enclose the stem of a broken bulb. A lateral slot bifurcates part of the chamber for receiving the paddle-shaped part of the stem, which is used to unscrew the broken bulb. A tapered surface on the end of the rod contacts the inside wall of the broken glass envelope and stabilizes and centers the rod while it is rotated.

  • Patent number: 6904830
Abstract: Broken bulb remover for removing a broken light bulb by twisting the glass stem protruding from the remnants of the broken bulb. A pair of longitudinal members of non-conductive material with handles on one end and semi-cylindrical engagement sections on the other end is connected together for pivoting about a fulcrum pin and socket. The engagement sections have silicone tabs for centering and stabilizing the tool when the handle sections are squeezed. Internal radial ribs on the engagement sections enclose and twist the glass stem to remove the broken bulb. A transparent non-conductive shield is mounted around the fulcrum sections to protect against electrical shock and broken glass.

  • Patent number: 6742416
Abstract: This bit has an axis and a tip end with an obtuse angle. There are multiple scraping surfaces, each facing counter-clockwise into a longitudinal recess in the tip end. Each scraping surface has a scraping edge at an angle of about 55° to 70° to the axis. Behind each scraping surface the outer surface of the tip end curves down to a rearward edge adjacent another of the longitudinal recesses, the rearward edges each being disposed at a sharper angle to the axis than the scraping edge so that there is some relief, allowing the scraping edge to be more pronounced and enhance its ability to dig into the metal of a deformed screw at points removed from the axis to get a good purchase on the screw.

  • Patent number: 5251516
Abstract: The tool includes a central section having a left-hand drill bit section at one end and an extraction section at the other. The extraction section tapers toward its distal end and is formed with left-hand threads on the exterior of the taper. The distal end is chamfered at an angle more abrupt than the taper so that the chamfer intercepts the threads and so that the threads rise outward in a short axial distance and are able to bite into the margins of a shallow hole drilled in the bolt remnant by the bit section.

  • Patent number: 5031487
Abstract: A broken bolt extractor comprises a right-hand threaded shaft having a left-hand drill bit at its lower end, the bit superposed by a collet-spreading inclined surface. The shaft has an invertible collet threaded thereon. The collet tapers toward its lower end and carries thereon exterior left-hand threads and is longitudinally split and expandable. The upper end of the collet carries a drive head structured when the collet is inverted on the shaft to center the drilling as it engages the sides of an aligned opening in a mating flange.
