  • Patent number: 5614798
Abstract: A circuit configuration for the control of a servomotor (M) with the aid of current pulses supplied by a current-controlled final stage (1) of a control system. The pattern of current rise is analyzed after actuation of the final stage (1) for identifying a short circuit in the servomotor (M) across the power supply system (+U.sub.B). An excessively high current (I.sub.K), after a measuring period (T.sub.M), commencing after the transistor (LT) of the final stage (1) has been placed in saturated state, is indicative of a short circuit.

  • Patent number: 5469757
Abstract: In a windshield wiper drive for a vehicle, the wiper spindle performs a rotational movement to-and-fro. In order that the inversion of motion does not take place all of a sudden but in a cushioned manner, a part-pinion with a pinion gap is realized when one tooth of the part-pinion is engaged by a cushioning stop member of a spring element. Reciprocally, another tooth strikes against an associated stop member shortly after the inversion of motion. The spring element is elastically deflected in the final phase of the rotational movement and thereby cushions the part-pinion. The spring element is preferably fastened to the gearing cover.

  • Patent number: 5454632
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system with anti-lock control and traction slip control has an electric-motor-driven hydraulic pump 6 and a motor 7 for auxiliary pressure supply during a controlled braking operation and during a traction slip control operation by way of brake management. During a traction slip control operation the speed of the hydraulic pump is reduced by way of a reduction in the power consumption of the drive motor of the pump down to a predetermined value where the speed and the noise development are low relative to values with nominal capacity. The power limitation will be cancelled in situations critical to safety and reliability or in case of certain malfunctions of the control system. The power limitation is achieved by way of relays and an ohmic series resistor or by way of a so-called semiconductor relay or electronic relay.

  • Patent number: 5451867
Abstract: A circuit configuration which serves to condition the output signal of a rotational speed sensor, e.g., the wheel sensor of an automotive vehicle. The circuit configuration includes a trigger circuit, the "hysteresis" or trigger thresholds thereof being controllable, and includes circuits for determining a coupling factor which, multiplied by the frequency of the sensor signal corresponding to the speed of rotation, forms the amplitude of the sensor output signal. To determine the coupling factor, and to adjust the hysteresis, threshold values are predefined for the output signal of the rotational speed sensor. Upon start of the vehicle, the coupling factor is determined from the frequency of the sensor signal at the point of time the threshold values are reached, and the hysteresis is adjusted accordingly.

  • Patent number: 5449225
Abstract: A master brake cylinder for an anti-locking hydraulic brake system is provided, comprising a central valve provided in each piston. The central valve comprises a first valve and a second valve. The opening distance A of the first valve is smaller than the opening distance B of the second valve. The first valve is made of a metallic material while the closure member of the second valve is made of a soft-elastic material, such as a rubber ring 40. Being made of a hard material, the first valve can perform a pressure regulating function, involving, however, the risk that dirt particles contained in the pressure fluid, are forced into the valve ball and the valve seat, respectively, thereby preventing the valve from closing completely. In such an event, at least the closing function of the central valve is performed by the second valve. To a limited extent, the second valve also can take over a pressure control function.

  • Patent number: 5429425
Abstract: An independent wheel brake unit for an automotive vehicle is furnished with a hydraulic wheel brake (12), a hydraulic pump (2), an accumulator (6) and electrically actuated valves (9, 10, 11) for controlling the brake pressure. The hydraulic pump generates the actuating pressure required for actuating the wheel brake (12) by receiving the kinetic energy of the vehicle through the vehicle wheel. Because the wheel brake unit supplies itself with energy, fuel is saved and the complexity of the electrical wiring system of the automotive vehicle is reduced. All essential components of the unit together with the steering knuckle (16) of the automotive vehicle can be pre-assembled and mounted on the vehicle, as a unit, preferably in an automatic manner, by a robot, thereby substantially reducing the final-assembly costs.

  • Patent number: 5415468
Abstract: A circuit configuration and method for a traction slip control system which evaluates the speed (v.sub.ER) measured at a driven spare wheel with a correction factor K(t) in order to maintain or improve the control function even when a smaller size spare wheel has been mounted. This correction factor (K(t)) is determined by axlewise comparison of the rotating speeds (v.sub.na1, v.sub.na2 ; v.sub.a, v.sub.ER) of the wheels of one axle and by comparison of the speed differences measured on the driven and nondriven axles, with traction slip control being inactive. Upon transition from a very slippery road surface (.mu..sub.low homogeneous) to a dry road surface (.mu..sub.high homogeneous), without any prior determination of the correction factor, the slip threshold (S) is raised temporarily. When starting with different right/left friction coefficients (.mu.-split), with the spare wheel being mounted on the high friction coefficient side, a higher slip threshold (S.sub.ER) will be effective for this spare wheel.
