Abstract: An electrical submersible pump (ESP) for use in a high viscosity pumping system includes a pump shaft, at least one rotating impeller including an impeller hub and one or more impeller vanes projecting from the impeller hub. Each of the one or more impeller vanes includes an impeller vane edge, and at least one stationary diffuser positioned below the at least one rotating impeller. A diffuser includes a diffuser hub and a diffuser shroud including a diffuser shroud surface. The impeller vane edge and the diffuser shroud surface are separated only by a clearance gap.

Abstract: A power transmission system and method for transmitting power over a three-phase power system on a multi-conductor power cable between a surface and a sub-surface location are provided. A surface system includes a power supply providing a direct current (DC) power signal to the power cable. A sub-surface system includes a downhole system coupled to a Y-point of a downhole motor. The downhole system is configured to be powered by (i) the DC power signal provided by the surface system, (ii) alternating current (AC) power drawn from the Y-point, and (iii) a combination of the DC power and the AC power. The downhole system is powered by the DC power when the power cable does not have an insulation fault, and the downhole system is powered by the AC power or the combination of the DC power and the AC power when the power cable has an insulation fault.

Abstract: An electrical submersible pumping system includes production tubing, a pump for pumping fluid through the production tubing, a motor for providing power to the pumping system, an electrical cable for supplying power to the motor, and a motor adaptor attached to the motor for connecting the electrical cable to the motor.

Abstract: An electric submergible pumping system that includes a pump having a pump discharge; a motor; a power crossover assembly including a top flange having a generally circular opening in the center, an upper tubular portion connected to the top flange portion, a lower tubular portion including two generally rectangular-like shaped windows for intake suction for crude oil, a lower flange having a circular shape connected to the lower tubular portion. The top flange, the upper tubular portion, the lower tubular portion, and the lower flange are one unit, each having three adjacent holes passing there through in alignment. A first support leg includes a vertical extension from the lower flange to the upper tubular portion. Three electrical conductors, each disposed adjacent to each other, pass through the three adjacent holes for electrical connection to the motor.
