  • Patent number: 4648561
Abstract: A grinding mill apparatus is disclosed comprising a grinding mill having a feed end head and a discharge end head and a shell disposed between said heads and secured thereto for rotation with the head. A feed end bearing and a discharge end bearing are provided for supporting the feed end head and the discharge end head for rotation about a generally horizontal axis. The bearings include a bearing element which pivots with the heads with the amount of pivot proportional to the increase or decrease of charge level within the mill. A proximity probe is secured to a stationary surface and aligned with a target which is secured to the bearing. The proximity probe detects changes in gap size between the probe and the target and generates a signal indicating an increase in charge level or a decrease in charge level within the mill.

  • Patent number: 4598875
Abstract: This invention relates to a vehicle-mounted closed circuit portable crushing and screening plant in which a plurality of units for processing material to be crushed, such as a grizzly, a primary crusher, and a secondary crusher are mounted to discharge their outputs onto the horizontal feeder portion of a dual belt conveyor-elevator having an elevator portion which receives the deposited material from the horizontal feeder portion and elevates such material to and discharges such material into the upper feed end of a vibrating screen device mounted on the vehicle. The vibrating screen device classifies the material deposited thereon for recirculation to the secondary crusher and/or for discharge as a plurality of end products of predetermined size classifications. The vibrating screen device and the dual belt conveyor-elevator are both foldable from an elevated operating position to a retracted transport or storage position.

  • Patent number: 4583912
Abstract: A pump is disclosed having a damped dynamic vibration absorber for attenuating pump vibration in response to a periodic disturbing force generated when the pump is in operation. The vibration absorber comprises elastic means, an annular mass and an energy dissipative means. The elastic means are arranged around the pump in a plane generally normal to the axis of rotation having one end secured to the pump and one end free to vibrate relative to the pump. The annular mass is secured to the free end and the energy dissipative means comprising a squeeze film damper is secured to the annular mass. The annular mass has a predetermined mass, and the elastic means have a predetermined stiffness and the squeeze film damper has a predetermined damping ratio such that the absorber generates a compensating force acting on the pump out of phase with a periodic disturbing force which acts on the pump and is generated while the pump is operated.

  • Patent number: 4576618
Abstract: A self-cleaning collecting device for cleaning a dirty gas stream including a flow-through housing having a dirty gas inlet at the base of the housing and a clean gas outlet at the top of the housing interconnected by a gas treating passage adapted to direct a gas stream vertically through the housing. As the dirty gas stream enters the housing, it is circulated through a liquid bath where noxious vapors and larger particulates are entrained in a mist of liquid droplets which are in turn captured and removed from the gas stream as it moves through a separating panel positioned above the liquid bath. As the gas flows upwardly out of the panel, the captured liquid is circulated to the liquid bath to maintain a flow of liquid within the panel which acts to continuously wash the particulates from the panel.

  • Patent number: 4573827
Abstract: A hydraulic turbine installation is disclosed for a site comprising a dam having a floor and opposing sidewalls defining a spillway. The installation comprises a frame member which slideably engages the spillway floor on a downstream side of the dam. The frame member is slideable transverse to a direction of water flow through the spillway. A hydraulic turbine and connected generator are carried by the frame member. The frame member is provided with an intake such that when the frame member is in a first position within the spillway, water flow through the spillway is directed through the turbine runner. The frame member is slideable to a second position with the frame member out of the spillway and water flow through the spillway uninterrupted. Power actuated means such as hydraulic servomotors are provided for sliding the frame member between the first and second positions.

  • Patent number: 4570806
Abstract: A warehouse system employs a crane guided for movement along an aisle with storage racks on opposite sides thereof and mounting a carriage for vertical reciprocation thereon. An extractor supported on the carriage has a pair of narrow extensible arms which engage the undersides of lips formed on opposite sides of a tote pan. The extensible arms each include three rails nested in one-above-the-other relation with the intermediate rail having vertical load bearing rollers engaging the upper and lower rails. A harmonic drive causes extension and retraction of the extractor arms through a chain and pulley arrangement. The tote pans are nestable and have ribbed bottoms cooperatively engaging cantilevered brackets on the storage racks whereby the pans are releasably detained in their stored position in the warehouse.

  • Patent number: 4566166
Abstract: A method for manufacturing stay rings for a family of hydraulic turbine installations is disclosed. The stay ring comprises a plurality of stay vanes axially extending between two concentric ring members. Stay vanes are formed from flat plates and aligned circumferentially on the rings with radially outer leading edges presenting an intake angle acceptable for any turbine installation within a predetermined family of turbine installations. The vanes are sized such that their length measured from the leading edge to a trailing edge is such that the vane presents a discharge angle equal to a predetermined minimum discharge angle for the family of turbine installations for a given turbine installation. A desired discharge angle corresponding with a desired power output is predetermined and the trailing edges of the stay vanes are trimmed an amount sufficient for the stay vanes to present the desired discharge angle.
