    Abstract: A sealing member for sealing between static members, for example between static members of a gas turbine engine. The seal includes a first annular sealing member which includes a first sealing portion and a flange portion. The first sealing member seals a passageway between static members. The flange portion clamps around a flange of a static member, and also seals a portion of circumferential gaps. The first sealing member cooperates with a second sealing member to seal a passageway. Attached to another leg of the flange portion is a ring.

The patterns utilized in the casting process are formed in one embodiment to a precision preformed geometry by a closed die forming operation.

    Abstract: A gas turbine engine vane and method of manufacture. In one form of the present invention a vane is non destructively removeable from a vane segment to allow individual components to be replaced. The vane and endwalls are coupled together by a retainer that is formed in place between the vane and the endwall and that can be removed by conventional techniques. In one form the retainer fills a pair of corresponding grooves in the vane and endwall member so as to mechanically couple the components together and minimize fluid leakage therebetween. The retainer being nonmetallurgically coupled to the vane and endwall member. A portion of the vane being allowed to move relative to the endwall in response to thermal conditions.

    Abstract: A lightweight high temperature multiproperty rotor disk and method of manufacture for use in a gas turbine engine. The rotor disk of a nickel super alloy and having a plurality of lightweight high temperature single crystal blade attachment lugs bonded thereto. The single crystal high temperature rotor blade attachment lugs being cast in a substantially rectangular shape and bonded to the circumference of the disk. A method of manufacturing the rotor includes positioning the plurality of single crystal attachment lugs on a positioning ring that has locating nests formed thereon. Subsequently, the rotor disk is placed within the bonding ring and a restraining ring is placed around the entire subassembly. Upon subjecting the assembly to high temperature the rotor disk, having a coefficient of thermal expansion greater than the coefficient of thermal expansion of the restraining member, forces the components into a mating relationship.
