    Abstract: An insulating stay comprises: a central core (1) having high electrical resistance and high tensile strength; a sheath (2) of high electrical resistivity and comprising fins (3) to offer a maximum resistance path to possible surface current losses; and end fittings (4). The central core is made of resin reinforced with long, continuous fibers, and advantageously of epoxy resin reinforced with glass fibers. The sheath (2) is made of a natural or synthetic polymer, and advantageously of EPDM elastomer. The stay is manufactured by coating the central core (1) with a high viscosity glue (8) having high longitudinal resistivity, then wrapping said glue-covered core in a hollow tube (5) of raw elastomer and placing the assembly in a mold (5) where said fins (3) are formed in the sheath (2) and where the raw elastomer (5) is polymerized by vulcanization or reticulation. The stay is intended for bracing electrical installations that need to be insolated and placed at some distance from the ground.

    Abstract: The present invention concerns superconductor lengths constituted by superconducting filaments based on a ternary chalcogenide of molybdenum (PbMo.sub.6 S.sub.8) assembled within a stabilizing matrix based on copper. The invention provides a method of fabricating superconducting filaments consisting of mixing a powder of a ternary chalcogenide of molybdenum with a metal powder of smaller granulometry and chosen from the components of the chalcogenide in question, or from the group of metals consisting of aluminum, silver, gallium, rhenium, and titanium, in sheathing the mixture of powders obtained by means of a metal wall constituted from one of a group of metals formed by molybdenum, niobium, tantalum, titanium and vanadium, and in subjecting the superconducting lengths obtained after drawing and cold working using conventional wire drawing techniques to a final heat treatment consisting of heating to a temperature of about 800.degree. C. for at least twenty hours.

    Abstract: Insulation process by impregnation of electric leads using isocyanate and oxazolidone cycle resins in which a glass cloth and porous mica paper tape is wound around the leads, the tape is impregnated with a quaternary ammonium salt, catalyzing condensation of isocyanate and epoxy derivatives in isocyanurate and oxazolidone cycles and with a varnish comprising a liquid epoxy resin and an isocyanate derivative, then the impregnated tape undergoes a heat treatment for polymerization of the varnish.As quaternary ammonium salt, is used a benzyltrialkylammonium halide with alkyl chain containing at most 3 carbon atoms, the tape is first impregnated with benzyltrialkylammonium halide and liquid epoxy resin, it is dried at a temperature equal to 135.degree. C. at maximum and then it is impregnated with isocyanate derivative based varnish before undergoing the polymerizing heat treatment.

    Abstract: A superconductor manufacturing process provides electrical insulation and enhanced transverse electrical resistivity of multifilament superconductor strands based on Nb.sub.3 Sn. The process includes forming, during the early manufacturing steps in which the product is relatively short and of large cross section, resistive barriers around bundles of filaments in an oxide powder doped with conductive materials. In subsequent steps, an electrically insulative powder is used to insulate between a copper tube surrounding the bundles of filaments and an outer resistive ring or to insulate around multifilament strands.
