Abstract: There is provided a preference event reservation system of a broadcasting program including: a head end inserting event information into a broadcasting program sued broadcasting the broadcasting program containing the event information and an event information list; and a client terminal. The client terminal includes a controller displaying the event information list transferred from the head end, controlling a reservation for a preference event out of the event information list, and controlling execution of the reservation when event information that corresponds to the preference event is transferred from the head end; and a memory storing the reservation for the preference event.

Abstract: A channel searching system includes a head end broadcasting a broadcasting signal over a broadcasting medium, and a receiver. The broadcasting signal includes a multi-channel video containing a plurality of videos and video configuration information on the videos. The receiver is capable of receiving the broadcasting signal over the broadcasting medium and showing a viewer a channel searching view edited from the multi-channel video based on the video configuration information and searching screen configuration information.

Abstract: A head-end system for providing a two-way VOD service and a service method thereof are disclosed. The head-end system includes: a terminal which is based on a Java virtual machine and a Java TV/GEM standard middleware and has a VOD navigator application of a tool set form for replaying and controlling an audiovisual (AV) which is processed to be replayed in real time and an application related to the AV which is processed to be replayed in real time; and a two-way VOD head-end system server for providing a VOD content list and content information to the terminal through the Internet and providing information of an application related to an AV which is processed to be replayed and an application execution-related file together when a VOD content is selected and requested by a user.

Abstract: A user receiver coupled to an advertisement system through a network is used to provide a method of providing a personalized advertisement. The method includes: maintaining user information related to user's video view; receiving from the advertisement system respective first advertisement control data corresponding to a plurality of first advertisements, wherein the respective first advertisement control data includes at least one first condition variable and at least one first point; comparing the user information with the first condition variable or variables; and displaying, when first conditional variables matched with the user information exist, an advertisement corresponding to a first condition variable having the highest first point among the first condition variables matched with the user information.

Abstract: A television program reservation method is provided for allowing a user to reserve programs at a website and down-load reservation information within a set-top box through Internet such that the reserved program can be played by the set-top box. The program reservation system for a broadcast system includes a subscriber terminal having a web browser for accessing Internet; an electronic program guide management server for managing electronic program guide provided by an electronic data provision server and electronic data, building a database of reservation information with programs registered by a subscriber, retrieving and transmitting the reservation information to the subscriber terminal when requested; and a set-top box for requesting reservation information and storing the reservation information received from the electronic program guide management server, such that the reservation information reserved through Internet is received and stored by the set-top box.
