Abstract: A method for providing an advertisement service in a digital broadcast receiver is disclosed. The method includes receiving a broadcast signal over a broadcast network; extracting configuration data of lattice-type video contents and at least one advertisement video from the received broadcast signal; editing the extracted configuration data of lattice-type video contents and displaying the edited configuration data on a display means of a user terminal as a channel selection screen; upon receipt of a focus move request from a user while providing the channel selection screen, selecting a video content corresponding to the focus move request; and if a focus moved by the focus move request of the user has been located on the selected video content for a predetermined time or more, displaying the advertisement video on the display means in contiguity with the selected video content.

Abstract: A device and method for executing an application related to Audio/Video (A/V) content are provided. The device includes a controller for obtaining an identifier of the application, for sending a query message including the identifier and platform information of the device to a download server having a predefined address, for receiving a response message to the query message, and for executing the application based on the response message, and a transceiver for performing an operation of sending and receiving the query message and the response message, thereby making it possible to provide applications related to A/V content to all types of application execution devices regardless of the types of platforms of the devices. Thus, A/V content providers may provide applications to A/V content consumers without the limitations on the data broadcasting networks and the recording capacity of the media.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing Electronic Program Guide (EPG) information in a digital broadcast receiver, in which upon receipt of a request for EPG information from a viewer in a situation where specific broadcast content is being broadcasted, at least one pop-up window is sequentially activated in a partial region of a full screen, and at least one of the specific broadcast content and EPG information about broadcast content selected by the viewer is displayed on each of the activated at least one pop-up window.

Abstract: A device and method for executing an application related to Audio/Video (A/V) content are provided. The device includes a controller for obtaining an identifier of the application, for sending a query message including the identifier and platform information of the device to a download server having a predefined address, for receiving a response message to the query message, and for executing the application based on the response message, and a transceiver for performing an operation of sending and receiving the query message and the response message, thereby making it possible to provide applications related to A/V content to all types of application execution devices regardless of the types of platforms of the devices. Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for screen display in a digital broadcast receiver for receiving moving picture contents. The method in accordance with the present invention is characterized in that a user can watch preference programs by selection of a particular virtual channel. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of (a) assigning at least one channel that is not allocated to broadcast regular programs by broadcasting stations as my channel, (b) bookmarking a program that a user wants to watch to the my channel based on a program guide information, and (c) in response to selection of the my channel by the user, displaying the bookmarked program on television screen of the user. Two or more channels may be assigned as my channel. Compared with the conventional method that allows only one channel to be reserved for the same time, the present invention makes it possible to reserve as many channels as the number of My Channels for the same time.

The server receives the contents data through the digital broadcast network, divides the received contents data by broadcast channels, stores the divided contents data in the database, and transmits the stored contents data to the user through the Internet network.
