Abstract: A corner protector preferably of corrugated box board material is disclosed for ready application to the corners of an article to be shipped, such as a piece of furniture, in which the corner protectors are shipped in a flat, knocked-down configuration. The corner protector is readily assembled into its three-dimensional form so as to fit over the three intersecting planes of the article at its corners, to have a predetermined thickness so as to protect the corners of the article during shipping, and to maintain a desired spacing between the outer faces of the corner protectors and the inner faces of the shipping carton in which the article is contained.
Abstract: A carton for packaging a bulk semi-solid material, such as a block of unhardened cheese, or the like, is disclosed. The carton comprises a one-piece wrapper of multi-layered corrugated box board material with the wrapper having slit-score lines formed therein permitting the wrapper to be folded on itself so as to form flutes or corners having a relatively sharp radius of curvature with these corners being in register with the side corners of the block and with the faces of the wrapper being in firm face-to-face abutting engagement with the side faces of the block. The carton further includes an open-ended sleeve or tube having generally the same cross sectional shape as the block with the wrapper wrapped therearound, this sleeve being telescopically received by the wrapper on the polyhedron with the sleeve securely holding the wrapper in place on the block of the semi-solid material.
Abstract: In a paperboard picture frame or the like support for holding picture or painting frames, or related type of items, a base member comprising a solid sheet of paperboard, or formed as a marginal member, has a series of corner straps depending from it, and which corner straps are sectionalized to provide for the fold over of each strap for embracing the proximate end of the supported frame, with one of the sections of the strap generally folding intermediate of the supported frame and the base member of the support, in order to secure the frame in place without necessitating the usage of any adhesive or other fastener. But, it may be that the final section of the corner strap may be adhesively secured to the underside of the base member to likewise provide for securement of the frame in place.
