  • Patent number: 5805769
Abstract: An ellipsoidal reflector is provided for a light energy emitting lamp which is used as a heating element within an oven. Because an ellipsoidal reflector is used, the light energy emitting lamp may be positioned at the first focal point of the ellipsoidal reflector in order to concentrate light reflected by the ellipsoidal reflector on the food being cooked. Accordingly, a charbroiled surface effect common to gas or electric cooking grills is produced. The light energy emitting lamp may also be moved away from the first focal point so that light is reflected by the ellipsoidal reflector more uniformly.

  • Patent number: 5789724
Abstract: An oven door has an RF choke, an outer choke cover, first and second inner choke cover members, and a contaminant barrier The RF choke has a first side which is oriented away from a cooking chamber of an oven, and the RF choke has a second side which is oriented toward a cooking chamber of an oven. The outer choke cover abuts the first side of the RF choke. The first inner choke cover member has a gasket, and the first inner choke cover member is microwave safe. The contaminant barrier abuts the gasket of the first inner choke cover member. The second inner choke cover member abuts the contaminant barrier so that the contaminant barrier is sandwiched between the first and second inner choke cover members. The second inner choke cover member is microwave safe.

  • Patent number: 5780792
Abstract: An electrical appliance includes an appliance base, a cover, power lines carrying electrical power to the appliance base, an interlock switch, and a fastener. The interlock switch has a switch case and a switch within the switch case. The switch case is affixed to the appliance base, the switch is in one of the power lines, and the switch has an open position and a closed position. The fastener is arranged to fasten the cover to the appliance base so that the fastener holds the switch in its closed position when the cover is fastened by the fastener to the appliance base and allows the switch to move to its open position when the cover is not fastened by the fastener to the appliance base.
