Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for controlled pressure testing at least one membrane filter in an on site of use housing, and to simultaneously test a plurality of membrane filters in a covered common housing at the site of use to independently determine by visual flow indicators if each filter is acceptable for use or is defective.
Abstract: A molecular separation chromotography column for effecting the differential distribution, between two phases, of the components of a sample flowing therethrough. The column contains a substantially homogeneous solid stationary phase which comprises a porous matrix of fiber having particulate immobilized therein, wherein at least one of said fiber or particulate is effective for molecular separation. The column is characterized by a reduced pressure drop, increased axial dispersion, more uniform peak shapes and better separations at high sample loading.

Abstract: A miniature low profile relay having discrete bobbin and stationary contact block sections mechanically affixed together. A closed-loop pusher member having a window portion is interposed between the bobbin and stationary contact block sections. A tongue portion of the stationary contact block section extends through the window of the pusher for being received in force-fit within a recess portion of the bobbin section. An E-core having a center arm which extends through the bobbin section with a protruding end portion and having two outer arms having end portions, with each end portion being received in a slot of the contact block section.
Abstract: In the formation of the components of a jig for profile stitching of garment parts, a profile formed in one component is used to create associated profiles in a second component and subsequently one of the associated profiles of the second component is used to create a related profile in the first component.
Abstract: A sub for connection into a drill string which has a cable extending along the outside of the string to the location of the sub and then extending downwardly within the string beyond the sub. The sub includes two members which are connectable to upper and lower portions of the drill string and are detachably connectable to one another, preferably by a surrounding threaded sleeve, with the cable extending between the two members in sealed relation from the exterior of the first member to the interior of the second.
Abstract: An automatic motorized door closure having an arm freely movable on a motor shaft in response to opening a door and after a time delay being connected to the motor shaft and automatically moving the door to a closed position.
Abstract: A filter media sheet comprising fine particulate and a self-bonding matrix of cellulose fiber, the surfaces of at least one of which are modified with cationic colloidal silica.
Abstract: An interval timer has a cross-shaped cam with elongated arms and is interposed between a slot moving disc and a micro-switch. Adjustable pins are disposed on the outer extremities of the disc and engage the inner ends of the cross-shaped cam arms. The outer ends of the arms rotate with increased velocity causing rapid momentary actuation of the switch.
Abstract: A circuit breaker with an electrical insulator slide interposable between two generally convex contacts thereof and a rocker button rotatably trap mounted on a protrusion extending from the inside wall of the case which interacts wtih pivot points at one end of the slide to translate the rocking motion of the button into a linear motion displacement of the slide. The slide includes generally parallel elongate spaced apart standoff protrusions adapted to maintain the operating electrical contact surface of the movable contact withdrawn from contact with the slide when in the tripped position and during a resetting of the circuit breaker. The slide also includes a contoured portion adapted to generally mate with curved portions of but be visually distinguishable from the rocker button to present a readily discernable indication that the circuit breaker is in the tripped condition.
Abstract: In a method of and apparatus for top stitching parallel to the edge of a garment panel in which edge is a corner, there are provided means for detecting the approach of the corner and thereupon reducing the speed of movement of the panel through the machine and means acting on the underside of the panel to impart a turning motion thereto.
Abstract: An electrically conductive terminal having barbed portions on one end thereof, and a split pig-tail portion on the opposite end thereof. The barbed terminal end is force fitted into an aperture in a plastic housing of the solid state relay. The pig-tail portion extends downwardly into the interior space of the housing and a printed circuit board is inserted over the pig-tail. The pig-tailed terminal end is then spread to hold the printed circuit board within the package.
Abstract: Two small diameter fiberglass tubes are rolled on silicone rubber slugs and inserted into a larger cylinder which is then pinched into a figure-8 shape. This is put in the curing mold. When heated the silicone rubber expands to push the fiberglass into contact with mold surfaces. After cooling the slugs can be pulled lengthwise, which reduces their diameter so they are self freeing from within the cured frame.

Abstract: A filter media is provided which comprises an amount of particulate immobilized in a substantially inert porous matrix. A least a portion of the particulate surface has thereon a divalent metal peroxide. The metal peroxide is magnesium peroxide or calcium peroxide, preferably magnesium peroxide. The filter media is preferably used for oxidizing and removing soluble iron and manganese from an aqueous fluid. The filter may also be used for removing and inactivating microorganisms from fluids, e.g. aqueous fluids. Particulate filter aid having coated or adsorbed on the surface the aforementioned metal peroxide may be used as the particulate in the filter media, as well as the metal peroxide in particulate form.
Abstract: A spear gun having a dog member is fulcrumed to a vertical pin carried by the trigger guard of the handgrip of an underwater gun. Said dog member is provided with sidewise outwardly projecting arm, and is further provided with an intermediate notch cooperating with the front edge of the lower end of the trigger, to lock said dog member into line retaining position whenever the trigger is in its rest position, and to unlock said dog member into line releasing position upon operation of the trigger. The dog member is cam shaped in proximity of said notch, and the said cam cooperates with the front edge on the trigger in order to automatically reset the dog member into its cocking or line retaining position after each shot.
Abstract: In a sewing machine adapted to stitch a garment panel held in or on a jig which is to be passed through the machine and turned in its own plane at a corner thereof, means are provided for detecting the approach of the corner and auxiliary means operative to assist in the turning of the jig at the corner.
Abstract: A table is suspended off springs, the upper ends of which can be lowered by a crank mechanism so that there is no spring load on the table when it is lowered for loading.
Abstract: A pull-to-turn rotary switch having an outer sleeve shaped housing into which a sleeve adapter is inserted and aligned by means of mutual detents. The sleeve adapter is provided with a washer shaped bottom plate which divides the housing into two chambers, one of which contains a biasing spring and a dual stop means and the other contains the switch contacts and a contact plate or rotor driven by the innermost end of the actuating shaft to which it is slidably keyed. The dual stop means includes two separate and distinct detent discs each cooperating with a separate and distinct detent stop pin or pins.
Abstract: A method is provided for making a filter cell comprised of two cellulosic fiber containing filter media having a sealed periphery. The method comprises compressing the peripheries of each filter media, to form a flange. The media are then aligned to provide intimate face-to-face contact between the flanges. A spacer means is provided between the media to cause each to dish outwardly from the other media. The two media and spacer means are then placed into a mold surrounding the flanges. The mold has a means for providing a recompression force to the inner portions of the flanges. A thermoplastic polymer is then injected into the mold to form a seal around the flanges. The recompression force is sufficient to maintain the flanges in intimate face-to-face contact with each other and to prevent seepage of the polymer between the flanges when the polymer is injected into the mold.
