Patents Assigned to Amway Corporation
  • Patent number: 6184247
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of enhancing the rate of skin desquamation by incorporating an ascorbic acid derivative into a cosmetic composition suitable for application to mammalian skin. The ascorbic acid derivative is selected from the group consisting of esters of ascorbic acid, salts, and mixtures thereof. The esters are generally selected from fatty acid mono-, di-, tri-, or tetra-esters. The salts are generally selected from ascorbyl phosphates, ascorbyl sulfates, and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 6177397
Abstract: A free-flowing agglomerated powder detergent process and the resulting composition includes from about 5% to about 80% of an alkali metal carbonate; from about 5% to about 50% of a detergent surfactant, and, up to about 25% of an alkali metal salt of a carboxylic acid, wherein the carboxylic acid is selected from the group of carboxylic acids that, below a first temperature, have a greater water solubility than the water solubility of its corresponding alkali-metal salt. The alkali metal salt is preferably provided solely by the reaction of (a) a premix comprising the alkali metal carbonate coated with the surfactant (b) a carboxylic acid selected from the group consisting of citric acid, malic acid, and mixtures thereof, and (c) water.

  • Patent number: 6153572
Abstract: A toilet bowl cleaner having an acid value from about 50 to about 90 includes a nonionic surfactant, a carboxylic acid, and a thickener. Preferably, the thickener is an acrylic copolymer and the acid is glycolic acid. The composition is concentrated to maintain cleaning effectiveness in a dilute environment.

  • Patent number: 6132739
Abstract: Makeup compositions having enhanced transfer resistance including at least one hydrophilic film former. The makeup can be a water-in-oil emulsion having the hydrophilic film former in the internal water phase and at least one pigment in the external oil phase. The makeup composition can also be a suspension of one or more cationically-coated pigments in water in which the hydrophilic film former is dissolved. The hydrophilic film former may also be an anionic gelling agent, whereby the cationically-coated pigment and the anionic gelling agent form a water-dispersable complex that upon application to the skin forms an insoluble pigmented salt having enhanced transfer resistance.
