  • Patent number: 4467682
Abstract: A tubing cutter (20) includes a rotary shaft member (22) having three hubs (28, 30, 32) extending therefrom to define three angularly spaced radial guideways (34, 36, 38) between the hubs. A radially slidable cutting wheel carrier (80) and two contact wheel carriers (110, 112) are slidable within the radial guideways. A cutter actuator (200) cooperates with the rotary shaft member to control the radial movement of the wheel carriers. The actuator includes a sleeve portion with three actuating arms (208, 210, 212) for registering in the outer portion of the guideways for engaging the wheel carriers. The surfaces of the actuating arms cooperating with the wheel carriers are designed to force the wheel carriers radially inwardly when the actuator arm is moved relative to the shaft member. A cutting wheel is mounted on the cutting wheel carrier for cutting a pipe positioned in the cutoff device as it is moved inwardly.

  • Patent number: 4281530
Abstract: An apparatus for forming tube components from a length of tube includes a transport clamp (34) mounted for controlled movement in a first and a second direction along a predetermined path (30). The tube is clamped within the transport clamp (34) when the transport clamp is moved in the first direction thereby drawing the tube along the predetermined path (30). Adjustable switches (42, 44) cooperate with the transport clamp (34) for controlling the forward and rearward movement of the transport clamp (34). A forming clamp (90) is mounted in the predetermined path for selectively clamping the tube when the transport clamp (34) is moving in the second direction. A cutoff assembly (96) operates to cut the tube into severed tube pieces. A tube forming assembly (92) is selectively positionable within the predetermined path for forming the end of the tube. Intermediate switch structure (56) is adjustable relative to the adjustable switches (42, 44) for controlling the operation of the forming assembly (92).

  • Patent number: 4227393
Abstract: An apparatus for punching openings in tubing (T) includes a stationary mandrel (50) having a guide aperture (142) through the walls thereof and adapted for insertion within the tubing to be punched. A moving actuator (110) having an inclined ramp (130) on one end is receivable within the stationary mandrel. A punch (134) is provided having an inclined end for engagement on the inclined ramp of the moving actuator and an opposite end for engagement through guide aperture (142) in the wall of the stationary mandrel. A T-shaped slot (136) is provided on the inclined end of the punch and a corresponding T-shaped ramp (132) is provided on the inclined ramp of the moving actuator. The engagement of ramp (132) in slot (136) provides for sliding engagement of the punch on the actuator. T-shaped slot (136) and ramp (132) are symmetrical about a plane through the longitudinal axis of the punch and the moving actuator. A stop bar (56) extends to one side of stationary mandrel (50).
