Patent number: 5178530Abstract: A heating device with a catalytic burner for a fuel gas is equipped with a member for regulating the thermal power. The regulating member includes a metal flap for regulating the flow of the mixture to be burned in the catalytic burner. This flap, for example a heat-sensitive bimetallic strip, can move between two positions, namely a first position in which the mixture to be burned is stored in the device or discharged in the manner of a leakage through an orifice in a wall of the heating device, and a second position which allows a maximum flow rate of the mixture to pass through the catalytic burner. The invention applies to all types of heating devices with a catalytic burner.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1992Date of Patent: January 12, 1993Assignee: Application Des GazInventors: Antoine Roldan, Nino Urbano, Philippe Bottazzi

Patent number: 5009592Abstract: The present invention relates to a hot air-generating device, combining a catalytic gas burner and a fan. According to the invention, on the one hand, the catalytic burner is of the induced-air type, for which means for mixing primary air in with the pressurized fuel gas are arranged upstream of the burner and, on the other hand, these same means comprise a component for drawing off oxidant air, independently of the circulation conduit which draws off primary air outside the latter. The invention can be applied to any kind of hot air-generating device, such as a hair drier and a hot-air gun for stripping paint.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1989Date of Patent: April 23, 1991Assignee: Application Des GazInventors: Antoine Roldan, Daniel Demilliere-Vergnais

Patent number: 4971224Abstract: The present invention relates to a valve and container provided with such a valve, which can be used with portable apparatus using fuel gas, normally operating with piercable cartridges. The valve according to the invention is characterized by the presence of a concave surface on the top of the axial boss of the cup. The corresponding transverse seal assumes the same concave shape as the top of the boss.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1988Date of Patent: November 20, 1990Assignee: Application Des GazInventor: Gerard Scremin

Patent number: 4911143Abstract: In a heating applicance with an induced-air catalytic burner, the catalytic burner comprises a refractory core having extending right through it axial conduits for the circulation of the combustible mixture, and dynamic braking means are provided in relation to the core, to make it possible to obtain at the outlet of the burner a speed profile making it possible to prime the ignition of the catalytic burner. A downstream flame heats the core until the catalytic burner is activated, at which moment the downstream flame disappears automatically. The invention applies to all types of heating applicance of the portable type, whatever their uses.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1988Date of Patent: March 27, 1990Assignee: Application des GazInventors: Jean-Claude Pivot, Philippe Bottazzi

Patent number: 4258904Abstract: A valve intended in particular for closing a container of fluid under pressure, more particularly gas in the liquid and/or gaseous phase, which comprises a seat, a movable sealing valve member mounted so as to bear elastically against the said seat, an elastic element forming a spring and having a fixed portion, and another movable portion supporting the said movable valve member, is characterized in that the elastic element is a spring having a shape permitting axial and radial retraction of the movable valve member in relation to the seat.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1979Date of Patent: March 31, 1981Assignee: Application des GazInventors: Gerard A. Scremin, Nino F. Urbano

Patent number: 4192284Abstract: A portable stove of the type fuelled from a replaceable pressurized combustible gas cartridge which is secured inside a cover member supporting a burner head and having means for connecting the burner head to the replaceable cartridge. A pair of covers, which telescopically fit one into the other have the dual function of serving separately as saucepans or in co-operation as an expandible housing for storing the stove, the covers being selectively telescopable to relatively greater or lesser extents, respectively to store the stove assembled or alternatively disassembled. The stove has arms which are shaped so as to provide, when the arms are extended, upstanding portions which are inscribed in a circle whose diameter is greater than the external diameters of the covers.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1978Date of Patent: March 11, 1980Assignee: Application des GazInventor: Marcel Vache

Patent number: 4177828Abstract: In a device for tapping gas from a gas-containing cartridge, there is provided a screw socket into which a threaded end of a tap forming part of a gas-using appliance is screwed, a piston spring-loaded in the direction of the end of the socket and bearing at its end sealing means engaging the cartridge, a perforating needle mounted on the socket and extending through the piston, and stop means to limit the travel of the piston under the action of its spring. The piston is hollow and of larger diameter than the socket which latter extends into a bore in the piston, the piston sliding over and outside the socket. By this means, the risk of seizure of the piston in prolonged use of the device is considerably reduced.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1978Date of Patent: December 11, 1979Assignee: Application des GazInventor: Marcel Vache
