  • Patent number: 5178530
Abstract: A heating device with a catalytic burner for a fuel gas is equipped with a member for regulating the thermal power. The regulating member includes a metal flap for regulating the flow of the mixture to be burned in the catalytic burner. This flap, for example a heat-sensitive bimetallic strip, can move between two positions, namely a first position in which the mixture to be burned is stored in the device or discharged in the manner of a leakage through an orifice in a wall of the heating device, and a second position which allows a maximum flow rate of the mixture to pass through the catalytic burner. The invention applies to all types of heating devices with a catalytic burner.

  • Patent number: 5009592
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hot air-generating device, combining a catalytic gas burner and a fan. According to the invention, on the one hand, the catalytic burner is of the induced-air type, for which means for mixing primary air in with the pressurized fuel gas are arranged upstream of the burner and, on the other hand, these same means comprise a component for drawing off oxidant air, independently of the circulation conduit which draws off primary air outside the latter. The invention can be applied to any kind of hot air-generating device, such as a hair drier and a hot-air gun for stripping paint.

  • Patent number: 4911143
Abstract: In a heating applicance with an induced-air catalytic burner, the catalytic burner comprises a refractory core having extending right through it axial conduits for the circulation of the combustible mixture, and dynamic braking means are provided in relation to the core, to make it possible to obtain at the outlet of the burner a speed profile making it possible to prime the ignition of the catalytic burner. A downstream flame heats the core until the catalytic burner is activated, at which moment the downstream flame disappears automatically. The invention applies to all types of heating applicance of the portable type, whatever their uses.

  • Patent number: 4313998
Abstract: The invention relates to a new complex filiform textile element comprising fibers of an inorganic material. The element in accordance with the invention is characterized by the fact that the fibers are contained on the outside by an enveloping but open structure of metal, the total area of the openings (So) being greater than the total area of the enveloping structure (Se) covering the apparent peripheral surface of all the entire fibers.

  • Patent number: 4207934
Abstract: A system of fastening an apparatus on a cartridge of fluid under pressure provided with a dispensing and/or filling valve and an annular bead surrounding the said valve, this fastening system, which comprises:a central core for fastening the said apparatus, comprising fluid dispensing means intended to cooperate with the valve of the said cartridge;a tubular sleeve surrounding the central core, movable axially relative to the latter, and provided with radial claws adapted to clip onto the bead of the cartridge;an annular stop serving as support against the bead of the cartridge;means of axially displacing the tubular sleeve, is characterized in that the annular stop is separate from the tubular sleeve and axially fixed relative to the central core and has an operative face against which the annular bead of the cartridge comes to bear when the said sleeve is displaced axially in the direction of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4192284
Abstract: A portable stove of the type fuelled from a replaceable pressurized combustible gas cartridge which is secured inside a cover member supporting a burner head and having means for connecting the burner head to the replaceable cartridge. A pair of covers, which telescopically fit one into the other have the dual function of serving separately as saucepans or in co-operation as an expandible housing for storing the stove, the covers being selectively telescopable to relatively greater or lesser extents, respectively to store the stove assembled or alternatively disassembled. The stove has arms which are shaped so as to provide, when the arms are extended, upstanding portions which are inscribed in a circle whose diameter is greater than the external diameters of the covers.

  • Patent number: 4177828
Abstract: In a device for tapping gas from a gas-containing cartridge, there is provided a screw socket into which a threaded end of a tap forming part of a gas-using appliance is screwed, a piston spring-loaded in the direction of the end of the socket and bearing at its end sealing means engaging the cartridge, a perforating needle mounted on the socket and extending through the piston, and stop means to limit the travel of the piston under the action of its spring. The piston is hollow and of larger diameter than the socket which latter extends into a bore in the piston, the piston sliding over and outside the socket. By this means, the risk of seizure of the piston in prolonged use of the device is considerably reduced.
