Abstract: A hopper opening mechanism for a hopper in a suction sweeping machine, the opening mechanism comprising an actuator mechanism for opening the hopper for cleaning of the hopper, wherein the actuator mechanism rotates a lid or door of the hopper and a base of or a mesh screen for a cyclone unit for cleaning of otherwise inaccessible surfaces of the machine. A tipping mechanism for the hopper inverts and raises the hopper for tipping out the contents of the hopper At the same time, the door and mesh screen are opened for facilitating the cleaning of the inside of the hopper.

Abstract: A seat assembly for a pedestrian operable suction sweeping machine comprising a telescopic chassis 1,3, supported on a caster wheel 17 and having a fold away seat arrangement 19 including a seat 20 supported on a seat plate 22. The assembly is provided with a pair of rearwardly facing lights 29,31 and a flashing or hazard warning light 47, the lights being supported on support arms 37 of a light frame 34 and the light 47 on a swing bracket 49 so that when the seat assembly is folded away for pedestrian operation of the machine, the lights can be folded into a stowed position to either side of the seat 20. The lights are preferably powered from a power source on the machine and wiring 53 for the lights is entrained around a dolly 57 to allow extension of the chassis 1,3.

Abstract: A seat assembly for a pedestrian operated machine may be pivotally attached to the rear of the machine at (22) and comprise a frame (20) having a spine (30) with a spine extension (31) supporting a seat (32) on a stalk (34) supported by a wheel (26). The spine extension is movable between a retracted pedestrian operated mode and an extended ride-on mode when the seat can be pivoted from a fold-away position to a position of use. When in its extended position the spine extension allows the frame to be pivoted about a vertical axis (40).

Abstract: A suction sweeping machine includes a filter arrangement for collecting debris from a fluid stream. The filter arrangement comprises an outlet leading into the filter arrangement, a container, preferably in the form of a plastic bag, for collecting debris and having an open upper end, and a porous tube which extends downwardly into the bag. The arrangement is such that a debris carrying fluid stream flowing from the outlet diffuses through the porous tube and out of the open end of the bag, while the debris remains within the bag. Preferably, the porous tube is flexible. In a preferred construction, the plastic bag is located in a compartment with an access door in a sidewall thereof, and a plurality of candle filters provide a secondary filter.
