  • Patent number: 5810382
Abstract: In a grip bar for a collapsible baby carriage, first and second portions 4 and 5 are coupled with each other by a rigid link member 28 within a joint 6, so that the first and second portions 4 and 5 symmetrically operate with respect to the joint 6. Thus, angles formed by the respective first and second portions 4 and 5 relative to the joint 6 can be kept identical to each other, whereby locking members 23 and 24 for both of the first and second portions 4 and 5 can be reliably and concurrently engaged in open state locking concave portions 19 and 20 or closed state locking concave portions 21 and 22. In this manner, it is possible to reliably and easily attain a locking state of both of the first and second portions 4 and 5 in either a linear open state or a folded state.

  • Patent number: 5802634
Abstract: An adjustable bed, suitable for use from infancy to adulthood includes a bed frame body having pivoting end panels and a height adjustable base. In one adjusted position, with the end panels pivoted to near vertical and the height adjustable base fully raised, the bed is swingable like a cradle, with the bed frame body swingably suspended from the height adjustable base. By lowering the height adjustable base, the near vertical end panels contact the floor, and the bed is useful as a playpen for an infant or a chair for an adult. By pivoting the end panels to intermediate or horizontal positions, the bed becomes useful as a lounge chair or as a bed for a child. With the height adjustable base at its lowest, and the end panels pivoted to horizontal positions, the bed may be used as a rigid support for an adult mattress.

  • Patent number: 5752738
Abstract: A seat for a baby carriage has a backrest core member held by a backrest holding member through a connecting mechanism combining a bracket (77) with a slot (75) and a guide pin (76). When the backrest core member is most inclined, the pin is located against one end wall of the slot to permit moving the backrest core member downwardly thereby forcibly bringing a head guard core member into an upright position. The head guard core member is rotatably connected to a control member which uses the movement of the backrest core member for the movement of the head guard member. Thus, a head guard portion is brought into a state substantially flush with a backrest portion when the backrest assumes a relatively upright state, while the head guard portion is brought into an upright position from the upper end of the backrest portion in a most inclined state of the backrest portion.

  • Patent number: 5681084
Abstract: A child seat apparatus includes a seat, a reclinable backrest, and at least either a pair of side guards rotatably mounted on the backrest or a pair of armrests mounted on the seat, wherein the lateral spacing between the side guards or the armrests is changeable. An interlocking mechanism links the backrest with the side guards or the armrests so that the space between the side guards or the armrests is changed in association with the inclination of the backrest. Specifically, this space is widened as the backrest is reclined. Such an interlocking mechanism, for example, includes driving pins that are driven with an upper end of a bridging bar for supporting the backrest in a reclined state while a pair of driven slots are provided in the side guards for receiving the driving pins respectively. The driven slots are directed at an angle relative to each other so as to be closer to each other at upper ends thereof.

  • Patent number: 5676419
Abstract: A seat for a baby carriage has a seat portion with a plate-type core member therein. The core member is divided into a plurality of plate-type members by at least one longitudinally extending parting line for allowing the baby carriage to be collapsed along the direction of its width. Adjacent ones of the plurality of plate-type members are hinged together with each other by hinge tapes on lower surface sides thereof. When the plate-type members define a uniform plane, end surfaces thereof are butted against each other so as to maintain the uniform plane even when a baby is seated on the seat portion. Thereby, the baby's buttocks are prevented from sinking down into the seat, and the baby is relieved of muscular strain.

  • Patent number: 5494331
Abstract: A seat body forming a backrest and a seat section is made to move along an arcuate guide with respect to a base by a relative movement guiding mechanism which is formed by combination of an arcuate guide rail and a guide member moving along the guide rail. A seat section is rotatably mounted on the seat body and a coupling member is caused to engage a linear section of the guide rail, thereby maintaining the seat section at a substantially constant inclination regardless of any movement of the seat body. Thus, it is possible to maintain the seat section in a substantially horizontal state also when the angle of the backrest is adjusted, whereby the backrest can recline without interfering with a backrest of the car seat in an automobile. Thus, an uncomfortable position is avoided when a child sits in the safety seat the backrest of which is in an inclined state.
