Publication number: 20180361238Abstract: Systems and methods provide confirmation of accuracy of determining medical codes for medical records. The technology may include processor control instructions or steps for establishing a collection of medical documents as a test sample and for determining a convergence of assigned medical codes for the sample that have been assigned by a plurality of coders to establish a standard of one or more accepted medical codes for the sample. The technology may include instructions for applying the sample to a coding system to obtain a determined medical code for the sample; and for comparing the determined code to the accepted medical codes to rate the coding system's accuracy. In some embodiments, the determined medical codes may be obtained by a software coding algorithm that automatically assigns medical codes to medical records. Moreover, the comparing step may be performed by an algorithm that automatically calculates a rate of the coding system.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2018Publication date: December 20, 2018Applicant: ARTIFICIAL MEDICAL INTELLIGENCE, INC.Inventor: Mark Elliott Familant

Publication number: 20170255752Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a computer implemented method for searching a medical coding database. The method may include receiving a particular look-up term associated with a particular medical classification code. The particular look-up term may contain one or more words. The method may include creating a set of indices derived from the particular look-up term. Each index in the set of indices may include a string containing at least three contiguous characters from the particular look-up term. The first character of the string may be the first character of one of the one or more words of the particular look-up term. The method may include associating each index in the set of indices to the particular medical classification code. The method may include storing the set of indices and the associated particular medical classification code into an indexing table of the medical coding database.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 3, 2017Publication date: September 7, 2017Applicant: Artificial Medical Intelligence, Inc.Inventors: Andrew B. Publication number: 20050240439Abstract: A system and method for automatic assignment of medical codes to unformatted data is, for example, a computer software module or engine. The engine automatically assigns medical codes such as ICD codes (ICD9 and ICD10 as well as other versions) to unformatted or uncoded medical documents (e.g. medical notes, discharge summaries, etc.). The system reads a document and then scans (assesses) it for diagnoses associated with the medical codes. When diagnosis is identified, the system can also examine the language context in which the diagnosis appears. Using rules derived from syntactic and semantic usage, the system decides whether to apply an identified ICD code to the document being processed or not.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2005Publication date: October 27, 2005Applicant: Artificial Medical Intelligence, Inc,Inventors: Andrew Covit, Mark Familant, Stuart Covit
