  • Patent number: 7629722
Abstract: An electric motor assembly device includes a carrier member with a central passage that receives a rotor shaft with a commutator. Brushes secured onto flexible, brush holders urge the brushes towards the central passage into a contact position with the commutator. The carrier member has mechanical elements for restraining the brush holders in an assembly position for assembly where the brushes clear the central passage and are protected against impact by the carrier member. This arrangement allows the rotor shaft to be introduced into the central passage of the carrier member without a risk of damaging the brushes. The brush holders are easily released automatically from the mechanical elements on the electric motor assembly device to bring the brushes into the contact position.

  • Patent number: 7576502
Abstract: The apparatus for closing a closure of a vehicle comprises a closure driver for moving the closure and an electronic control unit electrically coupled to the closure driver. The electronic control unit is configured to determine if predetermined speed criteria is satisfied and to operate the closure driver so as to close the closure at a first closing speed if the predetermined speed criteria is satisfied or at a second closing speed if the predetermined speed criteria is not satisfied. The second closing speed is less than the first closing speed regardless of the position of the closure so that a squeezing force applied by the closure to an obstruction remains less than a predetermined squeezing force. An associated method is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7540114
Abstract: A cable tensioner includes two cams mounted to face each other that pivot about a common spindle. A torsion spring is centered on the spindle. The torsion spring includes a first end in abutment with a first cam and a second end in abutment with a second cam. The torsion spring applies a torque onto each of the cams to reduce an angular distance between the cams when a cable exhibits insufficient tension. The cable tensioner is placed in a window regulator mechanism to simultaneously tension a lower cable and an upper cable of the device. Furthermore, the tension of one cable through the cable tensioner is reversible since the tension of each cable is balanced with the tension of the other cable.

  • Patent number: 7504601
Abstract: A release control sensor module for an openable member of a vehicle, such as a vehicle window, includes a first sensor and a second sensor. The first sensor is a displacement sensor that controls the closure of an electric circuit, such as a changeover switch or a reed switch. The second sensor is powered by the electric circuit. The first sensor controls the activation of the electronic circuit. If the first sensor is not actuated, the sensor module is electrically isolated and does not consume any power. If the first sensor is actuated, the second sensor is powered and can be used to detect movement of a moving part of the control, such as a pull handle or an opening lever.

  • Patent number: 7503611
Abstract: A vehicle includes a body and a tailgate coupled to the body by a hinge. The tailgate is moveable between a closed position and an open position. The vehicle also includes two cylinders for exerting a force on the tailgate with respect to the body. One of the cylinders is actuated by a drive device, and the lever arm of the cylinder actuated by the drive device with respect to the hinge is greater than the lever arm of the other cylinder with respect to the hinge in the closed position of the tailgate. The cylinder actuated by the drive device can develop a greater torque for opening the tailgate, facilitating the opening of the tailgate by a user since the cylinder actuated by the drive device allows for the movement of the tailgate.

  • Patent number: 7436136
Abstract: An anti-pinch control system is used to identify obstructions in a path of movement for a powered vehicle member, such as a vehicle window for example. A pinching area is identified for the vehicle window and at least one indicium or indicator is mounted to a vehicle structure to be in view of a camera. The indicium is positioned such that no object may pass into the pinching area without also passing between the camera and at least a portion of the indicium. The camera identifies an obstruction when any portion of the indicium is obscured. This indicium includes a plurality of predefined zones, with each zone being associated with an operational function, such as upward window movement, downward window movement, door locking, side mirror movement, etc. This eliminates the need for separate switches to perform each of these functions thereby reducing overall cost for a vehicle door system.

  • Patent number: 7325360
Abstract: A cable tensioner includes two members, such as a pipe and a tube, that define a cable path. The members are helically mobile relative to each other. A retractable detent permits the relative movement of the members in one direction and prevents the relative movement of the members in another direction. The cable tensioner is thus irreversible, regardless of the operating conditions. The cable tensioner is, for example, applicable to a cable used in a vehicle window regulator. The window regulator cable extends in a protective sheath. One end of the protective sheath abuts against the second member, and the second member acts on the end of the protective sheath to increase the cable path and cable tension.

  • Patent number: 7325843
Abstract: A latch mechanism for a vehicle door includes a latch bolt, a pawl biased into engagement with the latch bolt to maintain the latch bolt in a latched condition, and a manual release lever for operable linkage to a vehicle door handle. A power release member is movable to displace the pawl from an engaged position where the pawl engages the latch bolt to a disengaged position where the pawl does not engage the latch bolt. A clutch member is mounted such that movement of the pawl causes movement of the clutch member. The clutch member is movable by the manual release lever between a first rest position at which a break is created in a transmission path from the power release member to the pawl and a second position at which power actuation of the power release member moves the pawl from the engaged position to the disengaged position.

  • Patent number: 7311341
Abstract: A lock mechanism for a vehicle door latch includes a lock actuator drivingly coupled to a lock link for movement of the lock link between a first position corresponding to a locked state of a latch and a second position corresponding to an unlocked state of the latch. The mechanism further includes a superlock actuator drivingly connected to a superlock link slidably mounted for movement of the superlock link between a third position corresponding to a superlocked state of the latch and a fourth position corresponding to a non-superlocked state of the latch. A fixed abutment surface and an inside lock lever are mounted such that movement of the lock link between the first and second positions may be achieved when the superlock link is in the fourth position. When the superlock link is the third position, the relative positions of the inside lock lever, the superlock link and the abutment surface prevent movement of the lock link between the first and second positions.
