  • Patent number: 8267919
Abstract: A catheter assembly is disclosed comprising: a hydrophilic catheter; a wetting fluid for wetting of the catheter; and a receptacle enclosing at least the insertable part of the catheter and the wetting fluid. Further, the wetting fluid is a solution incorporating at least one osmolality-increasing compound, and the total concentration of the osmolality-increasing compound(s) is very high, preferably exceeding 600 mOsm/dm3. The wetting fluid could either be arranged in contact with the hydrophilic surface layer of the catheter in the receptacle, for preservation of the hydrophilic surface layer in a wetted state during accommodation in said receptacle and provision of a ready-to-use catheter assembly, or be arranged to keep the wetting fluid separated from the hydrophilic surface layer of the catheter during storage, but to be brought into contact with said hydrophilic surface layer upon activation before an intended use of the catheter. A similar method and wetting fluid is disclosed as well.

  • Patent number: 8029285
Abstract: The present invention relates to a screw implant (1) for insertion into a bore hole (50) arranged in bone tissue, said implant having a cancellous portion (3), and a cortical portion (2) having an axial length such that, when installed in the bore hole (50), the engagement of said cortical portion (2) with the bone tissue will generally be confined to the cortical bone tissue layer (52). Said cortical portion (2) presents an outer surface which is threaded for accomplishing said engagement, and has an outer design such that, when being screwed into said bore hole under action of a screwing torque, said cortical portion (2) acts so as to increase the compression of the cortical bone tissue only, in essentially radial directions of the implant, resulting in a distinct increase of the screwing torque needed for screwing the implant (1). Said increase is usable as an indication that the implant (1) is in place or nearly in place in the bore hole.

  • Patent number: 7959440
Abstract: A self-tapping dental implant includes a shaft including a coronal end, an apical end, self-tapping structure at the apical end, and an outer surface having a first axial section and a second axial section. The first axial section may be located coronally of the second axial section. Each of the first and second axial sections may include a series of peaks being axially spaced apart by troughs. In addition, the axial spacing between the adjacent peaks in the first axial section may be different than the axial spacing between adjacent peaks in the second axial section. Substantially all of the troughs in the first axial section may lie on an axial plane parallel to a main axis of the dental implant. Furthermore, the self-tapping structure may extend coronally from the apical end into the first axial section. A coronal end portion of the shaft may include the first axial section of the outer surface, and an apical end portion of the shaft may include the second axial section of the outer surface.

  • Patent number: 7883336
Abstract: Implant (10) having a shaft which is adapted in use to be embedded in bone tissue and which has an outer surface provided with a circumferentially-oriented roughness. The circumferentially-oriented roughness has first and second axial sections (19, 21) with each section comprising a series of circumferentially-oriented peaks which have a crest and which are axially spaced apart by troughs. The axial spacing (d) between the crests of adjacent peaks in the first axial section (19) is less than the axial spacing (3d) between the crests of adjacent peaks in the second axial section (21). Although the axial spacing between the crests of adjacent peaks in the first and second axial sections of circumferentially-oriented roughness differs, the first and second axial sections of circumferentially-oriented roughness are adapted in use to provide the same or substantially the same pitch.
