Patent number: 8001745Abstract: Material usage tracking systems for monitoring and optimizing usage of stretch film on a stretch wrapping machine is provided. A system includes a rotary encoder collar securable to a pre-stretch roller of a stretch wrapping machine and a proximity sensor securable proximate to the rotary encoder collar. Upon installation, the proximity sensor measures the revolutions of the pre-stretch roller when the stretch wrapping machine is wrapping a product or pallet. The system also includes a controller in communication with the proximity sensor. The controller converts the revolutions of the pre-stretch roller to measurements of the amount of stretch film pulled off a film roll in the stretch wrapping machine based on data received from the proximity sensor. Different uses for the data collected by the material usage tracking system and different ways of presentation of the data are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2009Date of Patent: August 23, 2011Assignee: Atlantic CorporationInventors: Russell M. Patent number: 6738414Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for radio communications wherein the transmitted signals include an intermediate frequency in addition to a carrier frequency to aid in demodulation of data modulated on the signals and regulate the local oscillator frequency at the receiver. The invention greatly reduces the number of components required to implement a radio, and in particular, a direct sequence spread spectrum radio, reduces the frequency stability requirement at the transmitting and receiving ends of the communication, automatically tracks changes in the transmission signal after transmission, and permits the use of a single frequency reference to provide all required frequencies to operate both the receiver and the transmitter in each radio.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2001Date of Patent: May 18, 2004Assignee: Pan Atlantic CorporationInventors: David L. Patent number: 6614880Abstract: A portable, automated telephone line test device includes a test module which applies test signals to a telephone line to be tested and detects electrical characteristics of the telephone line, and a user interface module. The user interface module includes a microprocessor, a display, a keyboard and a program memory in accordance with a standard microcomputer architecture. The processor of the user interface module is programmed to control the test module to perform a pre-programmed sequence of tests. The display provides indications of the tests being performed. The programmed sequence is varied by the device according to test results. Depending on the results obtained, the device also provides interpretative diagnostic messages and instructs the user to carry out additional test procedures.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2000Date of Patent: September 2, 2003Assignee: Bell Atlantic CorporationInventors: Robert J. Patent number: 6237075Abstract: The invention provides a volatile or non-volatile memory and a latching circuit wherein data held in a first memory location is used to address the next memory location, in addition to providing a synchronous portion of the code. Accordingly, the data at the next memory address is used as a succeeding address and a subsequent portion of the code. The data is organized to repeat when the data stored in the address location is equal to the starting address.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2000Date of Patent: May 22, 2001Assignee: Pan Atlantic CorporationInventors: David L. Patent number: 6157716Abstract: A power feed circuit provides power for a telephone subscriber loop connected to a unit of terminal equipment. The power feed circuit includes a first current supply circuit for supplying power to the subscriber loop when the unit of terminal equipment is in an on-hook condition and when the unit of terminal equipment is in an off-hook condition, and a second current supply circuit for supplying power to the subscriber loop only when the unit of terminal equipment is in the off-hook condition. Each current supply circuit includes a respective battery, transistor and bias network. The first current supply circuit is connected to the subscriber loop via a diode which is reverse-biased when the unit of terminal equipment is in the on-hook condition. The power feed circuit may be usefully applied in an Optical Network Unit (ONU) of a "fiber-in-the-loop" telephone system or in a Subscriber-Cable Interface Unit (SCIU) of a cable telephony system.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1998Date of Patent: December 5, 2000Assignee: Bell Atlantic CorporationInventor: William C.
