  • Patent number: 9759020
Abstract: A rod and rod cup alignment apparatus for a drilling machine has a receptacle for receiving a drill rod of the type having at least one rod flat, where the drill rod has a leading corner and a trailing corner relative to the direction of its rotation. The receptacle has at least one cup flat disposed on the inner surface of the receptacle and the cup flat further has a first top surface and a second top surface. The second top surface has a slope downward toward the bottom of the rod cup, so that, as the drill rod is lowered into the rod cup while the drill rod is rotating, the leading corner of the drill rod is caused to move downward along the second top surface, whereupon the trailing corner of the drill rod contacts the first top surface, thereby aligning the drill rod flat with the rod cup flat.

  • Patent number: 9074424
Abstract: A rod support system has an upper gripper assembly and a lower gripper assembly. Each gripper assembly has a top plate having a first track. The first track has a first substantially arcuate portion having a first radius of curvature and a second substantially arcuate portion having a second and smaller radius of curvature. A jaw is constrained to move in a path defined by the first track. A bottom plate of the assembly has a second track that is congruent with the first track also engaging the jaw, so that the jaw is constrained to move in a path defined by the first track and the second track in cooperation. The jaws can support a rod when the jaws move from a position along the first arcuate portion of the first and second tracks to a position along the second arcuate portion of the first and second tracks.

  • Patent number: 8905157
Abstract: A hydraulic fluid control system for controlling pressure fluid supplied to consumers (2, 3, 4) of a rock drilling machine, a regulating valve (6, 7, 8) for each for each consumer and fluid conduits between the regulating valves and the consumers, an electronically controlled auxiliary control unit (11) having an electrically controlled auxiliary valve (14) for connection to a fluid conduit, a sensor for sensing fluid parameter values and sending sensor signals to the auxiliary control unit as sensor input signal actual values, micro-controller (12) having at least one parameter sensor input signal entry (S1-S5, I1-I5) for receiving the sensor input signal actual values and a control signal exit (V1-V6) for signal control of an auxiliary valve, the processor (12) is being arranged to compare the actual and predetermined values and to emit control signals to an auxiliary valve in response to the comparison to adjust fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 8813870
Abstract: An arrangement in a rock drill rig 10 has an inlet valve 31 arranged upstream from a displacement compressor 32 that is used for supplying an air flow 34 to at least one flushing hole 23 in the surface of a drill bit 20. The rock drill rig 10 also has an air regulator 35 arranged to regulate the system pressure in the air flow path 34 downstream from the compressor and a detector for detecting air flow through the at least one flushing hole 23 in the surface of the drill bit. The detector has a pressure sensor 36, arranged between the air regulator 35 and the inlet valve 31, for measuring the reduced system pressure.

  • Patent number: 8782968
Abstract: An interface apparatus between a tower and platform includes a tower support assembly with opposed angle brackets and a first tower support assembly coupler/decoupler which is repeatably moveable between coupled and decoupled conditions with the tower support assembly. In the coupled condition, the coupler/decoupler is capable of coupling to the tower support assembly at a plurality of predetermined positions along the opposed angle brackets. The interface apparatus includes a second tower support assembly coupler/decoupler which allows the tower to pivot relative to the tower support assembly and rotate relative to the platform.

  • Patent number: 8622151
Abstract: A drilling machine includes a feed cable system which operatively couples a rotary head to a tower. The feed cable system includes first and second pull up cables and an equalizer bar, wherein the equalizer bar is coupled to the first and second pull up cables. The equalizer bar drives the rotary head to be held in a level position so that it is restricted from tilting. The drilling machine includes a slack take up device which couples the equalizer bar to the tower. The slack take up device is repeatably moveable between extended and retracted conditions.

  • Publication number: 20110278068
Abstract: Methods and systems for storing kinetic energy in a fluid-base power circuit. A regenerative control valve manifold diverts fluid flow from a hydraulic device performing a first operation into an accumulator. The accumulator stores a fluid volume sufficient to perform a second operation.
