  • Patent number: 5387390
Abstract: A method of making an interior panel of a vehicle door having an exterior surface which is to face toward the interior of the vehicle when installed therein. The method includes the steps of heating a laminate sheet comprising (1) an outer layer of vinyl sheet and (2) a layer of relatively soft foamed material bonded thereto and vacuum forming the heated laminate sheet in a vacuum mold component oriented so that an arm rest portion of the laminate sheet is the vinyl sheet surface thereof engaged with the mold surface arm rest portion. Next, a preformed pad of foamed elastomeric material having a density in the range of 30 to 45 pounds per cubic foot is mounted on the opposite surface of the arm rest portion of the heated laminate sheet.

  • Patent number: 5372398
Abstract: An easily removable vehicle seat is provided for use with a vehicle including a floor having an upwardly facing surface. The floor includes front and rear wells extending below the upwardly facing surface and anchor members extending across the wells. The vehicle seat includes a rigid support structure having a downwardly facing surface for engaging the anchor members of the vehicle floor. A cushioned seat structure is provided on the rigid support structure. The vehicle seat also includes hook members mounted on the rigid support structure for movement between (1) an operative position extending below the downwardly facing surface so as to enter the wells and engage in hooked relationship with the anchor members and (2) an inoperative position disposed above the operative position thereof so as to enable the rigid support structure to be moved relatively over the floor.

  • Patent number: 5324462
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of moulded material-covered products is provided wherein material is placed over a mould and held by clamping means proximate the periphery of the mould and thereafter material is drawn into the mould to conform to the shape of the interior surface of the mould prior to the injection of foamable thermoplastics material into the mould to form the product. The process includes the step of disposing a stop at predetermined positions on the material so that when the material is drawn into the mould, the stop precludes further material from ingressing into the mould and any further movement of material into mould is by the stretching of material.

  • Patent number: 5245313
Abstract: An automatic transmission lever position indicating device comprising a housing including a face wall structure presenting within an opaque background a sequence of translucent characters corresponding in sequence with the positions of the lever. A circuit board is mounted within the housing including leads for receiving and transmitting signals including the input signals of the automatic transmission. An illuminating assembly is carried by the circuit board for illuminating all of the sequence of translucent characters and additionally indicating by illumination one of the sequence of translucent characters corresponding to the position the lever is in.

  • Patent number: 5231745
Abstract: A method of making a seat component including the steps of sewing marginal edges of a plurality of cover material pieces with a plastic strip disposed between exterior surfaces of the marginal edges in a configuration coincident with a elongated sharply concave styling character line to form a seam in which a line of stitches extends through the marginal edges of the cover material pieces and a reduced thickness central portion of the strip along a severance line thereon or slightly outwardly thereof, applying a tape of imperforate material along the interior surface of the seam, positioning a sewn and taped panel of the cover pieces so that the exterior surface thereof is in facing relation to mold face of mold member, inserting an exterior edge portion of the strip into an elongated slot in the mold surface so as to accurately locate the seam of the panel along the elongated sharply convex styling character line, foaming a foamable material so as to adhere a body of foamed material to the interior surface o

  • Patent number: 5098270
Abstract: A mould for moulding the moulded product is also provided which includes a bottom and side wall formation surrounding the bottom proximate the periphery of the bottom, the bottom carrying on its surface a design to be carried by the moulded product, the bottom being separate from the side wall formation so that the side wall formation can be spaced from the bottom and be lowered to engage the bottom proximate the periphery of the bottom. The bottom may be one piece or may include a base supporting a tongue moveable to a raised position for receiving a bag or sack of material for the purposes of injecting foamable thermoplastics material onto the bag or sack.

  • Patent number: 5043699
Abstract: An automotive flasher switch having two terminal pins is disclosed. A relay having a conductive yoke and having a conductive, spring mounted armature, is connected to one terminal. A contact, supported by the armature, intermittently engages the other terminal during cycling of the relay. During cycling of the relay, current passes along a conductive path in the relay. A circuit board, having a timing assembly, functions to determine the cycling frequency and duration of the relay contact operation. An integrated chip may be provided to provide protective safeguards for the circuit. A deflecting plate or buzzer may be incorporated to enhance the audible signal generated during cycling.
