  • Patent number: 9547598
Abstract: A method of communication between networked devices in a local storage area network includes forming a message for in-band communication within a local storage area network. The message includes at least one major task and one or more associated sub tasks for execution within the storage area network. The method further includes establishing a first communication link at least between a first networked device and a second networked device in response to the formation of the message; transmitting the message from the first networked device to at least the second networked device within the local storage area network; and in response to receiving the message, executing the sub tasks within the message with a processor to complete the major task and support local storage area network functionality.

  • Patent number: 9383229
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments of high-speed, high-performance, low-noise, low-cost, compact, optical encoders having a multi-faceted flat-faced lens is disposed over the light emitters and light detectors thereof. Disclosed also are various means for preventing undesired stray light from reaching light detectors incorporated therein. Structures employed to block stray light in the optical encoders include light barriers, air gap trenches, and coatings disposed between first and second sides of a substrate of the encoder. Methods of making such optical encoders are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9106338
Abstract: A bidirectional optical communication system includes first and second transceivers arranged at opposed ends of an optical medium. Opto-electronic devices within the transceivers are arranged on respective mounting surfaces of planar substrates. First and second optical assemblies couple the respective transceivers to the optical medium. The optical assemblies include first and second optical elements arranged along an axis normal to the substrates. The first optical element is transparent to the optical signal transmitted from the respective transceiver and redirects the received optical signal from the other transceiver. The optical assemblies enable a single alignment of the opto-electronic devices and the optical medium.

  • Patent number: 9020024
Abstract: A rate-adaptive equalizer automatically initializes its tap coefficients to values. During an initialization process, a linear search algorithm is performed that sweeps the tap coefficients through different combinations of tap coefficients while assessing information about an eye associated with an input signal received over a communications channel. When the eye information indicates that the eye is open, the current tap coefficients are selected as the initial tap coefficients to be used at the beginning of the main adaptation algorithm.

  • Patent number: 7825902
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for identifying a number of interactions with a computer input area defined by at least first and second intersecting sets of detection paths. First, indications of which of the detection paths are affected by the interactions are received. Then, for each of the detection path sets, the set's indications of affected detection paths are parsed to identify up to N extents of adjacent, affected detection paths (N?2). A controller having logic to implement the method, and a system incorporating a control system that implements the method, are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7593140
Abstract: A system and method for generating dynamically modifiable timing control signals. Timing waveforms can be changed, for each phase of control, by changing the contents of memory locations and start/stop indices. Parallel signals are generated from the output of the memory locations. The memory locations are accessed in a user-selected order by an index value. This technique of generating timing waveforms, and thus control signals, can be applied to, for example, pixel array development.
