  • Patent number: 8567562
Abstract: A braking system for a self-retracting lifeline assembly is provided. The braking system includes a housing, a ratchet cam and a clutch assembly. The housing includes sidewalls that form, at least in part, a cavity. The sidewalls of the housing terminate in a connecting surface that extends around the cavity. The sidewalls have a plurality of notches spaced along interior surfaces of the sidewalls. Each notch extends from the connecting surface a select distance in the interior surfaces of the sidewalls of the housing. The ratchet cam includes an inner edge that defines a central cam opening. The inner edge of the ratchet cam has a plurality of inward extending teeth. The ratchet cam further has an outer edge. The outer edge has a plurality of outward extending fingers. Each finger terminates in a finger tip. Each finger tip is received in an associated notch in the interior surface of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6401423
Abstract: A deflector track tab structure, and method of formation, for positioning studs along a deflector track. Starting with a sheet of metal such as steel, tongues are formed within the sheet such that the tongues are oriented along the length of the sheet. Slats are formed in each tongue, wherein the slats are oriented along the length of the tongue. The tongues are bent away from the sheet resulting in tabs integral with the sheet and normal to the sheet. A flange is formed from the sheet on each side of the sheet such that a track web between the flanges remains. The flanges are normal to the web and oriented parallel to the tabs. A marker pattern may be formed on each tab to denote a position on each slat for subsequent coupling of metal studs to the tabs.

  • Patent number: 5836133
Abstract: A vertical movement clip for attaching a channeled beam or stud member to a horizontal building member. The clip has the advantage of easily sliding into the interior of the stud and wedging between two parallel legs of the stud member to fit securely therein. The clip also has the advantage of providing an attachment flange that securely attaches to and holds the floor to the stud and prevents most all horizontal movements and yet allows for vertical floor movement relative to the stud. A second embodiment includes a first and second arm having bent portions for increased loading capacity.

  • Patent number: 4976047
Abstract: A measuring apparatus and method for measuring the length of elongated elastomeric articles, such as rubber hose, which has a slide table and one or two measuring wheels which contact the hose as it passes over the slide table. The wheels are connected to readout devices which visually display the measured length. The invention also comprises means for keeping the hose straight and means for controlling an arc effect in the hose as it is being measured. A method is described which explains a way to correct for stretch or shrinkage of the hose which tends to give false measurements. A method is offered on how to calibrate the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4922622
Abstract: A measuring device which has a tape connected at one end to one end of a shaft and the tape is scrolled around the shaft. The visible surface of the tape includes a scale having a set of marks which defines a system of measuring units. The tape is inserted into a tube and allowed to spring open against the inner wall of the tube. A measurement can then be obtained for the internal circumference of the tube or the internal diameter of the tube.
