  • Publication number: 20240011298
Abstract: A two-piece stair nosing assembly is used in new construction and the reconstruction and repair of stairs, primarily for industrial and commercial applications. The stair nosing assembly comprises a metal base member and a metal upper member. The base member includes one or more anchors embedded in uncured concrete which, when cured, secures the base member to the stair pan. The upper member is detachably attached to the base member and can serve as both a protective cover during the cast-in-place process and as a tread surface after the cast-in-place process is completed and the stairs are ready for use.

  • Patent number: 11459749
Abstract: An improved fire blanket for use in expansion joints of buildings to retard the movement of fire and smoke. The invention permits movement of the joint without damaging or otherwise compromising the fire-retardant properties of the barrier. This movement may occur when the width of the joint changes due to expansion or contraction of the joint or when one side of the joint moves relative to the other along the length, or longitudinal axis, of the joint. The expansion and contraction introduce compressive and tensile loads and the relative movement along the length of the joint introduces shear loads. The invention prevents such compressive/tensile and shear loads from being introduced into the assembly and impacting its fire-retardant capabilities.

  • Patent number: 7104717
Abstract: A roof joint cover (10) that accommodates expansion, contraction, shear, and rotational movement between the surfaces (12,14) broadly comprises a first bracket (16) to be attached to a first surface (12), a second bracket (18) to be attached to a second surface (14), and a central bracket (20) to be installed between the first and second brackets (16,18). The first bracket (16) presents a cylindrical socket (24). The second bracket (18) presents a cylindrical plug (30). The central bracket (20) preferably presents a cylindrical plug (34) operable to fit within the socket (24) of the first bracket (16) and a cylindrical socket (36) offset from the plug (34) and operable to wrap around the plug (30) of the second bracket (18). The plug (34) of the central bracket (20) is perpendicular to the socket (36) of the central bracket (20), thereby accommodating linear and rotational movement along two perpendicular axis.

  • Patent number: 6962026
Abstract: An expansion joint cover (10) comprises a first plate (18) hingedly attached to a first surface (14) of an expansion joint (12), a second plate (20) hingedly attached to the first plate (18), and a housing (26) fixedly secured to a second surface (16) of the expansion joint (12). During installation, a front plate (52) of the housing (26) can rotate about a hinge (58) to allow the second plate (20) to be installed within the housing (26). In use, the second plate (20) slides within the housing (26) to accommodate variations in separation distance and vertical offset between the two surfaces (14,16). Two hinges (36,44) accommodate variations in torsion between the two surfaces (14,16). The combination of the second plate (20) sliding within the housing (26) and the two hinges (36,44) accommodates variations in lateral offset between the two surfaces (14,16).
