Patents Assigned to Banham Patent Locks Limited
  • Patent number: 6941778
Abstract: A lock for a door (10) comprises a casing (11), a bolt (55) operable to extend from or retract into the casing, a pivoted operating handle (36) operable at one side of the door to retract the bolt, lock means (28) for key operation at the other side of the door, and blocking means (81) to prevent operation of the handle to retract the bolt. In a locked closed position of the door, the bolt (55) is extended, and with the blocking means operated, key operation of the exterior lock means (28) both retracts the bolt and also de-actuates the blocking means. At the inside of the door further key operable lock means (39, 40) are provided sokly to operate and, if required to the de-actuate the blocking means.

In a locked closed position of the door, the bolt is extended, and with the blocking means operated, key operation of the exterior lock means both retracts the bolt and also de-actuates the blocking means. At the inside of the door further key operable lock means are provided solely to operate and, if required, to de-actuate, the blocking means.

  • Patent number: 6733051
Abstract: A door fastening device comprising a bolt movable between a retracted position and an extended position where at least part of the bolt extends, in use, to fasten the door, the bolt being linked to an abutment member, the part of the bolt being movable to its extended position in engagement, in use, of a bolt member of a lock or latch of the door with the abutment member, the abutment member being a cam which is adjustable to compensate for different clearances, in use, between the device and the door in its closed position, to ensure sufficient engagement of the abutment member by the bolt member to move the part of the bolt to its extended position, and the cam having a flat, first surface and a second surface on a nose part.

  • Patent number: 6722710
Abstract: A lock for a door comprises a casing, a bolt, a pivoted operation handle, operable to retract the bolt, a locking member to deadlock the bolt against retraction, and a unitary spring steel connecting member between the handle and the locking member. The connecting member has a central coil around a rod which acts as a pivot for the locking member and one end of the connecting member is cranked to engage in a recess of the locking member. The other end of the connecting member is shaped such that when engaged by the handle, as the handle is pivoted to retract the bolt, it transmits a force to the end at the locking member to overcome the force of a spring holding the locking member against the bolt, thereby to release the deadlocking and allow bolt retraction.

  • Patent number: 6669246
Abstract: A lock for a door comprising a casing, a bolt operable to extend from or retract into the casing and manually operable bolt retention means to retain the bolt in its retracted state even when an automatically operating bolt holding member is released by inwards movement of a bolt release member. The bolt retention means comprises a snib having a part receivable in an opening in the bolt when the bolt is manually moved into the case from its normally retracted position. Once the snib part is in the opening and the inwards force on the bolt removed, the spring acting on the bolt moves the bolt to its normally retracted position, where it is then retained by the snib. To release the retention, the bolt is again moved further into the case, whereupon the snib part is moved clear of the bolt opening under spring bias, and the unretained bolt is moved by its bias to its normally retracted position.

  • Patent number: 6615627
Abstract: A lock for a door has a casing, a bolt, a pivoted operating handle operable to retract the bolt, and lock structure comprising a lock cylinder. The lock cylinder is secured to the housing by a screw covered by a rose around the part of the housing, the rose being secured in place by fixing screws which can only be accessed upon removal of the casing assembly from the door and with the bolt in a retracted position. In this state, the shank of the screwdriver to undo each fixing screw can easily be passed through respective aligned openings in a cover plate of the housing assembly, the bolt, and the housing, thereby allowing removal of the rose and subsequent replacement of the cylinder without the need to remove components of the door lock itself.

  • Patent number: 6601417
Abstract: A lock for a door (10) comprising a casing (11), a bolt (55) operable to extend from or retract into the casing, a pivoted operating handle (36) operable at one side of the door movable from a rest position to an operating position to retract the bolt, the interior of the casing having a lug (21) through which a screw (27) passes into engagement in a tapped hole (23) in a fixing plate (12a) which is secured to said one side of the door, thereby indirectly securing the casing to the door. A screwdriver blade (27a) can be inserted through an opening (34, 35) in the casing to access the screw (27) when the handle is in its operating position, such access being prevented when the handle is in its rest position, by said handle blocking said opening, the handle being lockable in its rest position from said one side of the wing.
