Abstract: A grain storage system for protecting and aerating a mass of stored grain comprises a floor enclosed by perforated sheet metal sidewalls which are supported on a series of support trusses and project outwardly at an angle from the periphery of the floor. A mass of stored grain rests on the floor. A first set of perforated aeration ducts extend across the floor, at the bottom of the grain mass, and a second set of perforated aeration ducts extend across the top of the grain mass, the grain and the second set of ducts being covered by a tarpaulin secured to the sidewalls. Fans are connected to one set of the ducts to circulate air through both sets of ducts and through the sidewalls; the two sets of aeration ducts are staggered with respect to one another so that air circulates throughout the entire grain mass.
Abstract: Multi-aperture ventilated floor members, for use in a grain bin or like applications, are formed from continuous sheet metal strip stock, complete, in one pass through a cold roll forming machine, in a method in which the critical steps comprise roll-lancing the metal strip to form multiple closed slits transversely of the length of the strip and then roll corrugating the strip transversely of its length to widen the slits into narrow open ventilation slots by stretching the metal, simultaneously ironing out the projections formed when the slits are lanced into the strip.
Abstract: A building frame construction for a light metal building. The frame utilizes a series of transverse sub-frame assemblies forming side wall columns and main roof beams. Purlins and girts extend longitudinally between and are attached to the sub-frames to provide support for the side wall and rool panels; end wall columns and girts are provided to support the end wall covering. Each sub-frame comprises a plurality of modular truss units which are interconnected to form the unitary assembly of the sub-frame. Each truss unit comprises two main beams interconnected by struts and braces; the main beams are each formed from two angles aligned in a facing relation with a slot down the middle to permit attachment of any number of purlins or girts at any point along the beam.
