Patents Assigned to BARLEAN'S ORGANIC OILS, LLC
  • Publication number: 20220192994
Abstract: Provided is a semisolid softgel fill material that includes water and/or other polar solvents, along with a high amount of a nonpolar component, such as an oil. Also provided are methods and systems for producing softgels including the fill material. The softgels produced by the methods and systems provided herein have a normal appearance and retain their structural integrity, even when dried according to conventional methods. Further, when the fill material is added to water or other liquid, as it would be following ingestion, the fill material forms small droplets, thereby enhancing digestion and absorption of the fill material.

  • Patent number: 11287187
Abstract: Provided herein are systems, methods, and processes for drying a softgel having a hydrophilic fill material and one or more active ingredients. After forming the hydrophilic softgel, for example, the softgel is dried by sequentially passing the softgel through a series of specific drying conditions, in which the first drying condition has a low temperature and low dew point. In certain examples, controlled airflow is also used to dry the softgels. By using the systems, methods, and processes, the total time to dry the hydrophilic softgel can be beneficially reduced from several days to about 24 hours without causing shriveling of the softgel.

  • Patent number: 10966907
Abstract: Provided is a die roll for manufacturing softgels, a softgel, and methods for producing a softgel. The die roll includes a die roll surface and a pocket defined therein. The pocket includes a floor, an interior sidewall surface, a chamfer, and an exterior sidewall surface. The floor is recessed relative to the die roll surface and the interior sidewall surface is connected to the floor and extends above the die roll surface to the chamfer. The pocket also includes a landing surface that is elevated from the die role surface and connects the chamfer to the exterior sidewall surface of the pocket. The landing surface includes a taper (such that the landing surface tapers inwardly towards the pocket floor) and a radius (such that the landing surface is not flat). Also provided is a softgel having a trailing edge thickness that is at least about 40% the thickness of the softgel wall thickness.

  • Patent number: 10835491
Abstract: Provided herein are methods and processes for emulsifying non-polar compounds, such as omega fatty acids. Also provided are compositions that can be prepared according to the methods and processes described herein. The compositions, for example, have a high amount of the non-polar compound, such as a large amount of omega fatty acids. The non-polar compounds are also present in very small droplets within composition. For example, the mean or median particle size of the droplets is less than about 5 ?m. Further, the composition includes a low amount of surfactant, such as less than about 10-15% of the surfactant.

  • Patent number: 9925121
Abstract: A rotary die system that includes first and second axially aligned, coacting rotary dies positioned adjacent one another. Each die includes a working surface having a plurality of recesses defined therein. The recesses in the first die are each configured to align with a recess in the second die to form a product cavity upon coaction of the first and second dies. The product cavity is configured to receive a product. Each recess in at least one of the first or second dies includes a pin therein that is configured to puncture a film that at least partially surrounds the product.
