  • Patent number: 11993115
Abstract: A spring element, in particular a jounce bumper, for a vehicle shock absorber contains a longitudinal axis, a base body extending along the longitudinal axis, and an end portion configured for contact against a damper cap of the vehicle shock absorber. The base body is elastically deformable between an uncompressed basic state and a compressed state in which the base body is at least partially compressed in the direction of the longitudinal axis. The end portion contains at least three projections that are spaced apart from one another in a circumferential direction, and protrude from the base body in the direction of the longitudinal axis. Each of the projections has a distinct length in the direction of the longitudinal axis, and the projections are arranged along the circumference of the end portion such that the lengths of the projections increase monotonously in the circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 11685210
Abstract: A jounce bumper assembly can be used in a suspension system for an automotive vehicle. The assembly can contain a jounce bumper having a longitudinal axis, a bottom portion, and a tip portion spaced apart from the bottom portion in the axial direction, where the jounce bumper is resiliently deformable between an uncompressed basic state and an axially compressed state. The assembly can also contain a support member for supporting the jounce bumper, the support member having a wall section which can be arranged around the bottom portion and resiliently deformable with the jounce bumper in the axial and radial direction. The assembly can further contain at least one stiffening element associated to the wall section and configured to locally limit the radial deformation of the support member.

  • Patent number: 11667169
Abstract: A spring element, in particular a jounce bumper, for a vehicle suspension contains a longitudinal axis, a base body extending along the longitudinal axis, and an end portion positioned on a base end of the base body. The base body is elastically deformable between an uncompressed basic state and a compressed state in which the base body is at least partially compressed in the direction of the longitudinal axis. The end portion is configured for mounting the base body in a mounting cap. It is suggested that the end portion contains a plurality of at least two radially extending retention elements that are spaced apart from one another in the direction of the longitudinal axis, and each of the retention elements are configured to engage a mating retention element provided on the mounting cap.

  • Publication number: 20230167869
Abstract: A support ring for a resiliently deformable jounce bumper is made of a cast material. The support ring contains an inner circumferential surface that defines a through-opening extending along a longitudinal axis, an outer circumferential surface, a first axial end face, an opposing second axial end face, and a plurality of recesses configured to reduce the material mass which the support ring is made of. The through-opening is configured to fit around the jounce bumper. The plurality of recesses may be formed in at least one of the two end faces such that the recesses extend from the respective end face in the axial direction into the material of the support ring.

  • Publication number: 20230003273
Abstract: A jounce bumper of an automotive vehicle suspension system contains a longitudinal axis. The jounce bumper is configured to resiliently deform between an uncompressed state and a compressed state, where in the compressed state the jounce bumper has a smaller length in the direction of the longitudinal axis than in the uncompressed state. The jounce bumper also contains a base body that acts as a primary spring element, where the base body is partially or completely made of a volume-compressible first material. In particular, the base body further contains at least one secondary spring element integrated within the base body. The secondary spring element is resiliently deformable between a first length in the uncompressed state and a second length in the compressed state, where the second length is smaller than the first length. The secondary spring element is partially or completely made of a compact second material.

  • Publication number: 20220267553
Abstract: A process can be used for producing a thermoplastic polyurethane, where the process at least involves converting at least one isocyanate composition and a polyol composition, to obtain a prepolymer having isocyanate groups, and reacting the resulting prepolymer with at least one chain extender. The at least one isocyanate composition contains an isocyanate selected from naphthylene 1,5-diisocyanate (NDI), diphenylmethane 4,4?-diisocyanate (MDI), p-phenyl diisocyanate (PPDI), o-tolidine diisocyanate (TODI), ethylene diphenyl diisocyanate (EDI), or mixtures thereof. The polyol composition contains a polytetrahydrofuran or a derivative thereof. A thermoplastic polyurethane obtained or obtainable by such a process is useful, and a foamed pellet material can be produced containing such a thermoplastic polyurethane. The foamed pellet material of the invention can be used for production of a molded article.
