Abstract: In order to fill a casting mould with a molten metal, the latter is caused to flow into through an annular chamber into the shaped cavity of a casting mould, such annular chamber discharging over the entire external periphery of the shaped cavity into the latter. The inflow of molten metal into the annular chamber is interrupted by means of a piston, which, being borne inside the annular chamber, is capable of sliding therein. The molten metal can be caused to flow across a large flow cross-section, which shortens the filling time even with reduced flow velocity.
Abstract: A motor vehicle wheel rim assembly is provided which enables use of a wheel rim, having a fixed predetermined internal bore, with various wheel hubs having centering bodies of different external diameters. An insert ring is received within the internal bore of the wheel rim. The insert ring, in turn, has an internal diameter which is configured to closely fit the centering body of the wheel hub of a particular motor vehicle. A spring retaining ring is received within an annular groove within the wheel rim, once the insert ring is in position, to prevent substantial axial movement of the insert ring.
Abstract: A light metal wheel rim apparatus is provided with an increased wheel disk area in proportion to the overall diameter of the rim. The light metal wheel rim is constructed of at least two component parts. A first component part includes an inner rim flange and rim ring. A second component part includes a wheel disk portion, upon which a design may be configured, and an outer rim flange. The first and second component parts are joined in a manner which maximizes the area of the wheel disc relative to the overall dimensions of the light metal wheel rim.
