Patents Assigned to Beeton, Dickinson and Company
  • Patent number: 11648385
Abstract: A device to couple a vascular access device to a medical device may include a body, a spring, and a housing. The body may include a distal end, a proximal end, and a lumen extending through the distal end and the proximal end. The proximal end of the body may include a connector. The housing may be coupled to a proximal end of the spring and may enclose the connector. A distal end of the spring may be coupled to the body. The housing may include a flap, which may include an antimicrobial compound. When the housing is disposed in a proximal position, the flap may cover the connector, the antimicrobial compound may contact the connector, and the spring may be uncompressed. In response to movement of the housing from the proximal position to a distal position, the spring may be compressed and the flap may open.

  • Patent number: 11452857
Abstract: PIVCs with extension sets can include one or more flow diverting features for maximizing the amount of flushing that occurs within the interior of the catheter adapter. These flow diverting features can therefore minimize the amount of residual blood, medicament, or other fluid that may exist within the catheter adapter after the PIVC has been flushed via the extension set. The flow diverting features may be in the form of structural modifications to the side port of the extension set, separate components that are contained within the side port or catheter adapter, integrated components within the side port or catheter adapter, other features or some combination of any of these features.

  • Patent number: 11426558
Abstract: An IV catheter system may include a catheter component with a catheter hub, a cannula extending distally from the catheter hub, and a securement platform. The securement platform may include a wing, which may extend from the catheter hub. The IV catheter system may also include a needle component with a needle hub, a needle extending distally from the needle hub along an axis, and a grip extending from the needle hub. The grip may be generally parallel to the axis and disposed on a side of the needle hub. The wing and the grip may be positioned to facilitate manipulation with a single hand to move the IV catheter system from an insertion configuration towards a fluid delivery configuration.

  • Patent number: 11413432
Abstract: A self-slitting open lumen cannula may be used with catheter adapters to reduce manufacturing complexity and costs, as well as improve the safety of the catheter adapters against fluid leakage. The open lumen cannula may also include one or more notches to facilitate flashback visualization. The catheter adapters may further include a catheter adapter body formed of a compliant material that houses one or more compression resistant septa with at least one lumen formed by the proximal end of the needle during a self-slitting process as the catheter adapter is assembled. The compression resistant septum may also be coupled to a compression cap that imparts a radial compression force on the one or more compression resistant septa such that the at least one lumen narrows and seals when the cannula is removed.

  • Patent number: 11406810
Abstract: A catheter adapter may include a distal end, a proximal end, a lumen extending between the distal end and the proximal end, and a side port. A central axis of a fluid path extending through the side port may be disposed at an angle with respect to a longitudinal axis of the catheter adapter. The angle may be less than 45°. Additionally or alternatively to the angle being less than 45°, the catheter adapter may include a wedge and/or an insert configured to facilitate instrument delivery to the catheter assembly via the side port.
