  • Patent number: 5294177
Abstract: A rocker chair has a table concealed in an arm thereof which is extendible into an operative horizontal position. A stop block member is slidably mounted on a side base member of the chair and is moved into an operative position wherein it is effective to prevent forward and backward rocking motion when the chair is in the upright position. An actuating cable is connected between the stop block and the table and is effective to automatically move the stop block into the operative position when the table is extended. The invention can be incorporated into a rocker/recliner chair or a simple rocker chair.

  • Patent number: 5217277
Abstract: A collapsible table is concealed and stored in the hollow chamber of an upholstered seat arm. The table is pivotally connected to the seat arm by a two-segment spar which supports the table in the extended position and is collapsible for returning the table to the stored position in the arm chamber. A handle is easily manipulable by a seat occupant for collapsing the spar and returning the table to its storage position. The outer upholstered panel of the arm carries the male member of a latch for pivotal movement of the panel to permit access to the chamber and extension of the table. The table carries a cup holder which is pivotal between concealed and extended positions and which is automatically returned to its concealed position by engagement with the front post of the arm when the table is returned to its storage position.

  • Patent number: 5169208
Abstract: A footstool for recliner chairs having a linkage mechanism that is operable by conventional occupant controlled actuating mechanisms. The footstool comprises a base panel and an intermediate panel pivotally interconnected by the linkage mechanism so that when the footstool is extended, the two panels form a substantially uninterrupted leg support surface with the seat of the chair. The chair is thereby converted to a chaise lounge. When the footstool is retracted, the intermediate panel is stored behind the base panel.

  • Patent number: 5104182
Abstract: A backrest section of a unitary sofa, or of a unit of a modular sofa arrangement, is movable between its upright position and an operative position where it overlies the seat to provide a table and/or armrest accessible to sofa occupants on either side thereof. A linkage mechanism comprising a pair of links is mounted to either side of the movable backrest section and includes an opposed recess and detent which snap engage for frictionally retaining the table in the open, substantially horizontal position. The links are pivotally connected to anchor plates fixedly secured to vertical support mebers mounted in the sofa frame.

  • Patent number: 4696512
Abstract: A motor driven recliner chair in which a power transfer or drive tube is rigidly connected to the linkage actuating arms and operationally connected to the power screw of the motor by a nut threaded on the screw and slidably but non-rotatably positioned in the drive tube. A spring-biased latching member is pivotally mounted on the drive tube and captively retains the nut in the power screw-engaged position. The latching member may be withdrawn by the chair occupant whereupon the power drive is effectively disengaged and the chair may be manually operated to quickly return to the upright position.
