Patent number: 7604854Abstract: A business form with a moisture transport accelerating and stabilizing coating for improving the transport of moisture through paper stock during printing in a laser printing. The coating improves the resistance of the paper to curling when heated in a laser printer and reduces the likelihood of paper jams, especially during duplex printing.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2003Date of Patent: October 20, 2009Assignee: Bertek Systems, Inc.Inventors: Steve Jarvis, Ken Whitcomb, Eric Severy

Patent number: 6572151Abstract: The present invention is directed to a label/form combination assembly which will be able to withstand the harsh environment present in a laser printer in both simplex and duplex imaging modes. The label/form combination document is constructed of two separate materials joined together at a coplanar joint. A variable image receptive, pressure sensitive stock being comprised of a coplanar combination of facestock, pressure sensitive adhesive and release liner overlapping a laser bond paper is used in the label/form combination. A joint is formed when a portion of the liner of the pressure sensitive stock is removed, exposing its pressure sensitive adhesive. The exposed pressure sensitive adhesive is adhered to a strip of the laser quality bond sheet to create a bond between the label and the bond sheet. A remaining portion of the liner is adhered to the laser bond sheet with a cold bond adhesive that results in a double bond. The finished construction is die cut to form at least one rounded corner.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2001Date of Patent: June 3, 2003Assignee: Bertek Systems, Inc.Inventors: Steve Jarvis, Ken Whitcomb, Eric Severy

Patent number: 6103326Abstract: The present invention is directed to a card structure which is a multiple layered card which expands the areas that can be used to provide printed information and protects that information while maintaining a designated finished card size. The primary or top sheet has a front side having an area onto which is printable. The back side of the sheet also can be printed upon and has a coated layer of adhesive and or a release agent as desired. The information printed can be static or variable or a combination thereof for each finished card. The secondary or bottom sheet also has a front and rear side that have printable areas located thereon and a layer of adhesive and of release agent can be coated as necessary on the front of the secondary sheet depending upon the nature of the coating on the back of the primary or top sheet. A small slit can be made in the top or bottom sheet to allow the user to more easily separate the multiple layered card the card.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1998Date of Patent: August 15, 2000Assignee: Bertek Systems, Inc.Inventor: Junichi Kobayashi

Patent number: 6083593Abstract: The present invention is directed to a variably imaged document, such as a permit or license which is a multiple layered form or label construction that can be attached to a window or any translucent surface. The multiple layered form or label assembly is constructed of two separate material combinations laminated together. A variably imaged receptive pressure sensitive stock is used in one combination and a pressure sensitive plastic film stock is used in the other and the two combinations are laminated together to form the multiple layered construction using adhesives and patterns of release coatings. The assembly is die cut in a fashion that allows the removal of the center laminated portion that carries the variable information for the license or permit and is die cut in a manner that provides the adhering of the document to the inside of the window via the pressure sensitive adhesive on the exposed perimeter of the transparent plastic film.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1998Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: Bertek Systems, Inc.Inventors: Jean Claude LaLande, Peter Merriell Kvam
