  • Patent number: 10420484
Abstract: A system and method for producing an image of a subject with a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system using an adaptive gating window with constant gating efficiency is provided. Navigator data is acquired from the subject and used to produce a gating window having a defined gating efficiency value. Image data is acquired with the MRI system while measuring a position of an anatomical location within the subject. Image data is accepted or rejected based on whether the measured anatomical location is within the gating window. The gating window is updated using the measured position of the anatomical location such that a substantially constant gating efficiency value is maintained. Imaging is repeated with the updated gating window, after which the gating window is again updated. When the desired amount of image data has been acquired, an image of the subject is reconstructed.

  • Patent number: 8614300
Abstract: The invention pertains to nucleic acids encoding a mutT domain-containing polypeptide, including fragments and biologically functional variants thereof. The invention also pertains to therapeutics and diagnostics involving the foregoing polypeptide and nucleic acids and agents that bind the foregoing polypeptide and nucleic acids. The invention also pertains to the identification of a novel mutT domain in human TrpC7, a polypeptide previously described as a putative calcium ion channel. Accordingly, the invention also pertains to methods and compositions for identifying agents useful in modulating mutT domain-mediated calcium or other ion transport in cells expressing a polypeptide comprising a mutT domain and a calcium or other ion channel.

  • Patent number: 6846842
Abstract: A therapeutic composition comprising an alkyl, aralkyl, alkoxyalkyl or carboxyalkyl ester of 2-ketoalkanoic acid and a component for inducing and stabilizing the enol resonance form of the ester at physiological pH values is disclosed. The composition of the invention further comprises a pharmceutically acceptable carier vehicle in which the enol resonance form of the ester is stabilized at physiological pH values. Formulations containing the compositions of the invention permit the successful use of 2-ketoalkanoic acid esters, e.g., pyruvic acid esters, to treat, e.g., ischemic events, shock, organ reanimation, resuscitation and other recognized pyruvate-effective treatments. The compositions of the inventions are also useful in a process for preserving organ parts, organs or limbs removed from a living mammal and in need of preservation, e.g., for later transplantation to an organ recipient.

  • Patent number: 6009341
Abstract: To conduct a three-dimensional MRA study of the coronary arteries, the locations in space of the arteries is determined using a scout MR study. Segments (composed of phase-encoding lines, three-dimensional partitions, or both) are created in the volume of interest, each one relating to a particular coronary artery of interest. MR data relating to each one of the segments are acquired during a single cardiac cycle, and at times when the individual coronary arteries of interest are relatively motionless. Advantageously, a paramagnetic contrast agent is used to increase the MR signal from blood, and the study is conducted during a single breath hold.
