  • Patent number: 4700866
Abstract: A pressure locking cap for a pressurized vessel is screw threaded on its periphery for being screwed into a filling opening in the vessel. The top of the cap includes a socket for receiving a wrench for unscrewing the cap. A first piston in the cap communicates into the pressure of the vessel and the piston includes a piston rod which is moved into the socket to prevent insertion of the socket removal tool upon elevated pressure developing in the vessel. In an alternate embodiment, a second piston is placed inside the first piston and also communicates with the pressure of the vessel. A locking element, such as a ball, moves with the first piston through the cap body until the locking element moves even with a recess in the cap body.

  • Patent number: 4674030
Abstract: A lubricating system including a fluid distribution system for distribution a lubricating fluid to one or more parts of an operating machine and a control system for controlling the operation of the fluid distribution system is disclosed. The control system generates a system fault signal, which disables the machine being lubricated, a predetermined time period after a fault condition in said fluid distribution system is detected. A fault condition is detected in part by monitoring the output of a low pressure sensor which generates a low pressure fault signal whenever the pressure in the fluid distribution system falls below a predetermined level. Circuitry is provided for ensuring that a system fault signal will not be generated in response to an erroneous low pressure fault signal which may be generated during the initial pressurization of the fluid system.

  • Patent number: 4664567
Abstract: A drill bit, particularly for cutting deep holes in hard materials, includes a tubular shank with a solid center and diametrically opposed coolant conduits which supply coolant to a tungsten carbide tip located on one end of the tubular shank. Swarf and debris are carried by the coolant away from the cutting area and along swarf clearance channels located along the exterior of the shank tube out of the borehole. The carbide tip is brazed to the tubular shank and is formed with a pair of angularly spaced tubular chambers which communicate with the coolant conduits in the shank. One cutting edge is provided on top of each chamber in the tip. A coolant hole is formed at the top of each tubular chamber, behind the cutting edge. The coolant which emerges from the tip flows to the space between the tubular chambers and carries with it the swarf along the swarf clearance channels defined by the shank out of the borehole.

  • Patent number: 4494913
Abstract: A positive displacement injector for automatic centralized lubrication systems is constructed to include a two-piece disk-seal valve assembly that acts as a check valve and also provides seals at oppositely facing surfaces. The assembly consists of a stiff disk sandwiched between upstream and downstream disks of a resilient seal member. Notches in the periphery of the stiff disk are normally blocked by the downstream disk to prevent upstream fluid flow through these notches, yet the periphery of the downstream disk is deflectable to permit downstream fluid flow through the notches when there is relatively high fluid pressure at the inlet port. The assembly is bodily movable so that with low fluid pressure at the inlet port this port is blocked by the upstream disk, and with high fluid pressure at the inlet port the downstream disk blocks axial input to an outlet passage.
