  • Publication number: 20140286009
Abstract: A display module having electromagnetic interference shielding is disclosed. The display module has a mask circuit board disposed immediately above a first circuit board. One or more light emitting elements are disposed on a top surface of the first circuit board. The mask circuit board has one or more apertures which enable the light from the light emitting elements to radiate outward. The mask circuit board has one or more metalized layers electrically connected to ground which receive and reduces the electromagnetic radiation emitted from the first circuit board. The display module employs one or more shield strips disposed near the perimeter of the mask circuit board and first circuit board to receive and reduce the electromagnetic radiation which would otherwise radiate laterally from the circuit boards.

  • Patent number: 8152337
Abstract: A multi-panel electronic display for use on a structure, comprising a frame removably attached to the structure in such a way as to encounter a natural airflow, a plurality of individual panels mounted on the frame, each panel comprising a first side and a second side opposite the first side, the first side comprising a plurality of light sources, wherein each individual panel works with other individual panels to display an image, and a printed circuit on the second side of more than one of the individual panels of the multi-panel electronic display and in thermally conductive communication with the frame such that heat generated by electronic components on the circuit board is dissipated within the frame and such that the frame is cooled by the natural airflow. The frame may be corrugated to facilitate dissipation of the heat and create space for electrical wiring, and thermally conductive pads may be inserted between the circuit board and the frame to further dissipate heat.

  • Publication number: 20060055642
Abstract: An LED visual display apparatus includes a plurality of LED pixels arranged in a generally rectangular array and each having a substantially identical construction. A controller controls groups of the LEDs to produce virtual pixels. In some instances, the construction of each LED pixel consists of 6 to 9 LEDs, inclusive, includes a plurality of red LEDs, a plurality of green LEDs and at least one blue LED, and has more red LEDs than green LEDs. In some instances, the array includes rows of LEDs that consist only of green and blue LEDs which define a repeating green-green-blue pattern. In some instances, the array includes rows of LEDs that consist only of red and green LEDs which define a repeating red-red-green pattern.

  • Publication number: 20060055641
Abstract: An apparatus that supports operation of an LED sign includes a backplane that connects a backplane frame output of a first video data processor circuit card to a backplane frame input of a second video data processor circuit card, and also connects a backplane frame output of the second video data processor circuit card to a backplane frame input of a sign interface circuit card. Each video data processor circuit card includes a video source input, and the sign interface circuit card includes a video data output for coupling to distribution boards located at the sign. The backplane architecture provides flexible scalability by permitting the addition of further video data processor circuit cards and further sign interface circuit cards in any desired configuration.
