  • Patent number: 10984085
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of registering image data in the context of a biometric security system includes receiving an indication of image data, detecting a first point set and a second point set, based on the image data, and generating a metric of closeness between the first point set and the second point set. In addition, the computer-implemented method includes applying the metric of closeness to a transformation model to obtain a transformation parameter and transforming the first point set with respect to the second point set, based on the transformation parameter. Further, the computer-implemented method includes determining whether transformation of the first point set with respect to the second point set indicates convergence and, if so, generating an output indicative of an aligned point set.

  • Patent number: 10025831
Abstract: A system for comparing a biometric sample against a biometric dataset is provided. In one embodiment, a system for comparing a biometric sample against a biometric dataset comprises a database storing at least one biometric dataset. The system may also comprise a comparison module configured to iteratively provide a comparison score for each record in the biometric dataset, wherein the comparison score indicates a likelihood of match between an individual record in the biometric dataset and the biometric sample; wherein, during each iteration. The steps in the iteration may comprise retrieving a model of each of the plurality of records. The steps in the iteration may also comprise comparing the model of each of the plurality of records against the biometric sample. The steps in the iteration may also comprise generating the comparison score for each of the plurality of records. The steps in the iteration may also comprise iteratively compare the biometric sample against a plurality of records.

  • Patent number: 10002244
Abstract: A method for authenticating a user on a device is provided. The method comprises receiving an authentication request. The method also comprises checking a memory cache for available biometric data. The method also comprises retrieving the available biometric data from the memory cache. Retrieving available biometric data comprises retrieving a plurality of biometric data portions. The portions are retrieved such that a first biometric data portion is retrieved before a second biometric data portion. The second biometric data portion was captured before the first biometric data portion. Retrieving available biometric data also comprises determining whether each of the plurality of biometric data portion comprises verified biometric data. The method also comprises comparing the retrieved biometric data portions to an enrollment template and, upon determining that the retrieved biometric data portions matches the enrollment template, indicating that an authentication is complete.

  • Patent number: 7539331
Abstract: Methods and procedures for improving the performance and reliability of image analysis within an image identification system include a series of image qualification functions designed to quickly process a fraction of available image data and to provide feedback to a system user pertaining to image quality and authenticity. Functions designed to produce image models based on original image data and to catalogue such image models into a searchable database are included in the present invention. The present invention also includes functions for comparing one image model to another. Finally, the present invention provides functions for making a quick determination as to which, if any, of a potential thousands (or more, i.e., millions) of image models within a searchable database exhibit a desired level of similarity, as compared to a target image model.

  • Patent number: 7502938
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for enhancing the security of informational interactions with a biometric device is disclosed. The method includes pre-establishing an encryption relationship between a computing device and the biometric device. An instruction is received to begin an authorization or enrollment session. A session packet is generated and encrypted. The session packet is transmitted to the biometric device. A biometric information packet is received and decrypted. A determination is made, based on a content of the decrypted biometric information packet, as to whether or not to utilize a collection of biometric data contained in the decrypted biometric information packet.

  • Patent number: 7454624
Abstract: Biometric security systems are disclosed wherein a match template is unique as compared to a corresponding authentication model generated during enrollment and/or attempts at authentication. In accordance with one embodiment, the uniqueness of the match template as compared to a corresponding biometric authentication model is complete and non-reversible. Accordingly, the data in the match template cannot be directly utilized to produce an authentication model. Accordingly, match templates stored in a database need only be protected to assure that they are not substituted, altered or supplemented. Replication of match template data is not of paramount concern, as it cannot be used for a direct authentication.

  • Patent number: 7155040
Abstract: A computer-implemented method is provided for generating a quality field representation of a collection of image data. The method includes receiving the collection of image data and identifying a target point along a ridge in the collection of image data. A directional field representation is estimated by assigning an angle value to the ridge indicative of an angle with respect to a reference line. Also, a covariance between the target point and a corresponding point along a line orthogonal to the angle value is calculated.
