Abstract: A copolymer of an N-acylated glycosylamine and an amide having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.2 is a reducing sugar residue;R.sup.3 is H or CH.sub.3 ;x is an integer from 0 to about 20; andm is such that the molecular weight of the copolymer is from about 5 kDa to about 2000 kDa;an N-acryloyl- or methacryloyl-glycosylamine having the formula: ##STR2## wherein R.sup.2 is a reducing sugar residue; andR.sup.3 is H or CH.sub.3 ; andprocesses for its preparation.
Abstract: A method for the diagnosis of IgA nephropathy using a specific binding reaction comprising the steps:a) preparing a substrate capable of binding fibronectin or IgAb) contacting the substrate resulting from step a) with a sample of body fluid drawn from a patient subject to diagnosis to bind any fibronectin-IgA-complex present in said sample to the substrate, andc) determining the presence of complex bound to the substrate using the reaction between the exposed part of such bound complex and a corresponding antibody thereto; anda diagnostic kit for use in such diagnosis.

Abstract: A novel compound having the formula (I): ##STR1## or a reactive derivative or functional equivalent thereof, wherein m is an integer from 1 to 4, and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are same or different and selected from hydrogen and 1-4C alkyl; a fluorescent conjugate having the formula (III): ##STR2## wherein m R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the meaning given in claim 1, and R.sub.4 is a substituent attached to the keto group of formula (III) by a covalen bond. The new compounds and conjugates are usefual as fluorescent labelling agents.
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a gel product, wherein the reducing sugar is covalently coupled to the matrix of the gel product, characterized in that the sugar, through its reducing end, is coupled to a matrix provided with amino groups to form a glycosyl amine which is then stabilized by acylation to the formation of a glycosyl amide.
Abstract: Food-stuff, particularly based on ruminants milk, having added thereto Lacto-N-tetraose in a gastro-intestinally effective amount; and a process for its preparation.
Abstract: A composition for therapeutic or diagnostic use in regard to pathogenic microorganisms, containing as an active constituent a structural element having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are same or different and are hydrogen or an organic residue, for example lower alkyl, lower acyl, or a carbohydrate residue or an inorganic residue, such as sulphate or phosphate, and wherein OR.sub.1 is in .alpha.- or .beta.-configuration; a process for therapeutic treatment; a process for identification or quantification of the said structural element in native biological material; a process for purifying acceptor structures of bacteria; and a process for performing disinfection on surfaces.
