Abstract: A vacuum cleaner includes a suction nozzle defining a nozzle inlet, a manual nozzle height adjustment assembly for adjusting the height of the nozzle inlet relative to a surface to be cleaned, and a bleed valve fluidly connected to a working air path of the vacuum cleaner to selectively open to reduce suction at the nozzle inlet. The bleed valve is incorporated with the nozzle height adjustment assembly such that movement of the nozzle height adjustment assembly between different height settings will automatically open or close the bleed valve.
Abstract: A multi-function cleaning tool for use with a suction cleaner having a suction source includes a nozzle body rotatably coupled to a housing assembly, where the nozzle body includes multiple suction nozzles and/or agitators that are configured to clean different portions of a surface to be cleaned, such as a stairway.
Abstract: A surface cleaning apparatus includes a separating and collection assembly defining a collection chamber which receives debris and has a debris outlet, and a debris ejector reciprocally moveable within the collection chamber for vertical displacement relative to an exhaust grill. A push rod can be used to displace the debris ejector relative to the exhaust grill.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner comprises a cleaning head having a suction nozzle adapted to be moved along a surface to be cleaned, and a hair collection assembly provided on the cleaning head and having a hair collection element adapted to collect hair from the surface to be cleaned as the cleaning head moves along the surface to be cleaned.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner is provided with a dispensing system for applying a treating agent stored on the vacuum cleaner to the surface to be cleaned. The dispensing system can include at least one container for storing a supply of liquid treating agent and a dispenser for dispensing the liquid treating agent to the surface to be cleaned. The dispenser can include a porous a diffusion media that is configured to diffuse the treating agent through the dispenser and onto the surface to be cleaned.

Abstract: A package for delivering a cleaning solution to a surface to be cleaned includes a sealed packet having a cleaning solution therein with at least a portion of an outer lower surface thereof having at least one weakened, frangible area that is adapted to rupture when a predetermined pressure is applied to an upper surface of the packet. The cleaning solution in the packet can be discharged through the frangible areas when the packet is positioned on a surface and the predetermined pressure is applied to the packet to rupture the packet.

Abstract: A vacuum cleaner for cleaning a surface is convertible between an upright mode and a canister mode. The vacuum cleaner includes a diverter assembly to selectively divert a working air flow through different working air flow paths which correspond to the upright mode and the canister mode.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner has a separation/collection module with a housing and a cover pivotally mounted to the housing by a hinge. A filter assembly is carried by the cover and includes a filter media. When a user of the vacuum cleaner opens the cover, the filter media can be seen by the user.
Abstract: An autonomous floor cleaner includes a base that is movable over a surface to be cleaned, a collection chamber associated with the base, and a rotating top mounted coupled with the base for rotation relative to the base, where the top carries at least one sweeping element for sweeping dirt on the surface to be cleaned toward the collection chamber.

Abstract: A brushroll for a vacuum cleaner includes a dowel defining a central rotational axis about which the brushroll rotates, at least one bristle stiffener, a plurality of first bristles protruding from the dowel adjacent to the bristle stiffener, and a counterbalance which is positioned relative to the bristle stiffener to rotationally balance the brushroll, wherein the cross-sectional shape of the dowel is asymmetrical.
Abstract: A steam mop includes a housing comprising a foot assembly movable along a surface to be cleaned and a body portion coupled to the foot assembly, a supply tank for storing a supply of fluid, a steam generator fluidly connected to the supply tank for producing steam from the fluid, a fluid distributor fluidly coupled with the steam generator to distribute steam to the surface to be cleaned, a cleaning pad mounted to the foot assembly and positioned to contact the surface to be cleaned, and an agitator provided on the housing, separate from the cleaning pad.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner has an agitator assembly, a belt drive system coupling the agitator assembly to a motor via a belt, and a belt shifting assembly which selectively shifts the belt between a drive pulley and an idler pulley on the agitator assembly. Trace rotational force transmitted to the agitator assembly when the belt is on the idler pulley is prevented from causing the agitator assembly to rotate by an anti-rotation member of the belt shifting assembly.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner includes a dirt separating and collecting system. The dirt separating and collecting system can include an air-permeable filter material, and a helical inlet guide. Dirt entering the helical inlet guide within a working airstream is visible to the user through an at least partially transparent housing.
Abstract: An extraction cleaner for a floor surface comprises a fluid delivery system for storing cleaning fluid and delivering the cleaning fluid to the surface to be cleaned and a fluid recovery system for removing the spent cleaning fluid and dirt from the surface to be cleaned and storing the spent cleaning fluid and dirt. The fluid delivery system can further include a bladder housed within a tank of the recovery system, and the bladder can be closed by a fill cap.
