Abstract: Systems and methods for providing patent rating metrics and identifying patent troll activity are proposed. In one example embodiment, a method includes identifying a patent or patent application and providing, by a computer processor, a patent rating metric for the patent or patent application based on one or more change identifications. In one example, the patent or patent application is owned by a non-practicing entity.

Abstract: Systems and methods for the enhanced use of patent protection monitors in patent portfolio management are proposed. In one example embodiment, a method includes providing, via a website or other communication portal, a patent monitoring tool including at least one interactive user interface. A user identifies a patent for automated monitoring at a patent office. A user can select engagement of an automated advisory monitors for the identified patent. The automated monitors may include a no-assignment-filed monitor, an assignment-changed monitor, and a patent-fee monitor. The patent-fee monitor may automatically initiate a patent revival process in the event a patent fee is not paid.

Abstract: Systems and methods for the use of social media in patent portfolio management are proposed. In one example embodiment, a method includes maintaining or accessing, by a computer processor, a database including data relating to patent applications and detecting the grant or publication of a patent application in the database. The method further includes creating, in response to the detection, in a social media network, a fan page including data relating to the granted or published patent application. The owner of the granted or published patent is identified in the social media network and invited to be a fan of the fan page.

Abstract: Systems and methods for the use of mobile applications in patent portfolio management are proposed. In one example embodiment, a method includes providing or enabling a mobile application for a portable electronic device, the mobile application relating to payment of patent annuity fees and allowing presentation of an interactive user interface to a user. The method includes displaying, in the user interface, a cost projection for paying one or more patent annuity fees and allowing a user to select one or more of the displayed patent annuity fees for payment.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure include systems and methods for rating a patent continuation case by comparing the patent continuation case with a priority or parent patent case of the patent continuation case. Comparison elements are used in an embodiment with automatic comparison.

Abstract: A system for dynamic contact management may include storing in a database, a patent entry that includes data fields for a payment due date and a payment amount associated with a fee due; associating a primary contact and at least one secondary contact with the patent; receiving contact information for the primary contact and contact information for the at least one secondary contact; determining if the primary contact is available by periodically contacting the primary contact using the contact information for the primary contact before the payment due date; and when it is determined the primary contact is not available: contacting a secondary contact of the at least one secondary contact to retrieve updated contact information for the primary contact; and when it is determined the primary contact is available: storing an indication in the database that the contact information for the primary contact is up-to-date.

Abstract: Systems and methods for patent portfolio management are proposed. In one example embodiment, a system or method includes maintaining or accessing a database including data relating to patent maintenance fees and due dates. An interactive interface is presented to a user, the interface including a display of a maintenance fee and a due date for at least one patent in the database. The interactive interface allows a user to request a maintenance-fee cost projection for a selected group or portfolio of patents in the database. A notification selection element allows a user to request notification of maintenance fee payments coming due.

Abstract: Systems, methods and interfaces for patent portfolio management are proposed. In one example embodiment, a system comprises at least one module, executing on one or more computer processors, to assign a first, arbitrary patent value unit to any issued patent in the portfolio that has not been cited forward against another patent or application, assign a second, arbitrary patent value unit to any issued patent in the portfolio that has been cited forward against another patent or application, and sum the first and second arbitrary patent values units to derive the aggregate value of the patent portfolio.

One method comprises using one or more processors to provide a registry of patent matters comprising, at least, a listing of patent matters representing all patent matters registered at a national patent office for which respective patent annuity fees are payable. The method further includes registering customers of the registry as registered users of the registry, and allowing at least one registered user of the registry to tag one or more patent matters in the registry listing for payment of patent annuity fees.

Abstract: A prior art date analyzer system and method are provided. The system comprises a search engine to retrieve data from an external patent database, the data including at least one priority date for a patent matter stored in the database. The system further comprises an analytics module to receive input identifying national prior art rules, analyze the retrieved data to identify criteria relevant to the rules, and determine automatically the likely effective date of the reference.

Abstract: A user-interface system is provided for a patent management system having access to at least one patent matter database and at least one reference database. The user interface system comprises a first user interface element allowing selection of data stored in the at least one patent matter database, a second user interface element allowing selection of data stored in the at least one reference database, a third user interface element for linking at least one reference stored in the at least one reference database with at least one patent in the patent matter database, a fourth user interface element allowing the selection for storage of further references into the at least one reference database, and a fifth user interface element allowing analysis of at least one of the linked references.

Abstract: This disclosure comprises a method and system to automatically provide important business information to a user of the system at key decision making times during the lifetime of a patent with the goal of aligning business and strategies. The system will include an interface for the client to input information regarding business strategy on a continual basis and another interface to present the compiled information to the client at a later time, or to the working attorney. That information will be automatically sent to key decisions makers throughout the lifetime of a patent. Specifically, the business strategy information will consist of a revenue contribution ranking for client products as well as the competitors' products for each geographic region for which the invention is to be made, sold or transported.

Abstract: A method and system for managing patent matters are provided. The method comprises scraping patent data from an external patent database, the data including event dates of at least one patent matter. The method includes providing a docket engine for docketing the scraped event dates and, based on the scraped dates, calculating response due dates for the at least one patent matter; downloading at least one document from the external patent database; and associating at least one response due date with the at least one downloaded document.
