Patent number: 9228362Abstract: The present invention is an anchoring device for joining three boards. It includes a substantially flat horizontal top element having a top view configuration which includes two sides and has a first predetermined width as measured wide to side at its maximum width between the two sides. There is at least one substantially vertical support member attached to the underside of the top element along an imaginary center line and extending downwardly from the top element for a predetermined length, which has two sides and a second predetermined width as measured at its maximum width. There is a substantially flat horizontal bottom element with two sides and has a third predetermined width at its maximum width. The first predetermined width is greater than the second predetermined width and the third predetermined width, and the third is greater than the second.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2012Date of Patent: January 5, 2016Assignee: Blue Heron Enterprise LLCInventor: Harry W. Patent number: 8161702Abstract: The present invention is an anchoring biscuit device for joining three boards. It includes, (a) an at least partially flat horizontal top element having an imaginary center line, having opposite side walls, and having a top view footprint adapted to be inserted into grooves of adjacent boards; (b) at least one substantially vertical support member attached to the underside of the top element and extending downwardly therefrom for a predetermined length for joinder of two adjacent boards which contain the grooves for receiving portions of the top into the grooves; and (c) at least one compressive element located on the device, with at least one portion of the at least one compressive element, from a top view footprint, being located away from the imaginary center line and away from the vertical support member, wherein the compressive element is adapted to at least partially collapse under a predetermined compressive force.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2010Date of Patent: April 24, 2012Assignee: Blue Heron Enterprises LLCInventor: Harry W. Patent number: 6886821Abstract: The present invention is directed to a portable, adjustable vertical work holder device. The device includes a base support having an arcuate front view profile and a flat bottom view, and has a top and a bottom. There is a pair of opposing jaws connected to the base support, and at least one of the pair of jaws being slideably mounted to the base support and having a locking mechanism located thereon to render the slideably mounted jaw lockable and unlockable in plurality of positions along the base support. One critical and unique feature is that the base support is yielding (semi-flexible) and will flatten under load. In some preferred embodiments, the pair of jaws are substantially flat jaws facing one another with a gap therebetween, and when the device is in a rest position without a workpiece, there is a first gap width closest the base support that is less then a gap width furthest from the base support.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2003Date of Patent: May 3, 2005Assignee: Blue Heron Enterprises, LLCInventor: Harry W. Patent number: 6851884Abstract: The present invention is an anchoring biscuit device for joining three boards. It includes, (a) a first substantially flat horizontal top element having a generally biscuit-shaped configuration, with opposite sidewalls, at least one of said sidewalls having a flat edge, and at least a portion of said sidewalls being non-parallel with respect to one another; (b) at least one substantially vertical support member attached to the underside of the top element and extending downwardly therefrom for a predetermined length for joinder of two adjacent boards which have been pre-cut with biscuit receiving slots, and, (c) an attachment orifice located at least on the top element for attachment of the anchoring biscuit device to a support board for anchoring and support of the two adjacent boards. In one preferred embodiment, a top bevel is included at the orifice to permit angled screwing at positions other than vertical positions.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2003Date of Patent: February 8, 2005Assignee: Blue Heron Enterprises, LLCInventor: Harry W.
