The strip is characterised in that the aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy contains less than 1.2 wt. % silicon and also contains magnesium. A method of forming a coating of an aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy on a steel strip is also disclosed. The method includes moving steel strip upwardly through a coating pot containing a bath of an aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy and having an opening in a bottom wall of the pot and forming a coating of the alloy on the strip. The method is characterized by minimizing residence time of steel strip in contact with the aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy bath in the pot.

The metal alloy also contains strontium and/or calcium and unavoidable impurities and optionally other elements that are present as deliberate alloying elements. The concentration of magnesium is at least 1 wt. % and the concentration of (i) strontium or (ii) calcium or (iii) strontium and calcium is greater than 50 ppm.

Abstract: A method of treating an Al/Zn-based alloy coated product that includes an Al/Zn-based alloy coating on a substrate is disclosed. The method includes the steps of rapid intense heating of the alloy coating for a very short duration, and rapid cooling of the alloy coating, and forming a modified crystalline microstructure of the alloy coating.

Abstract: An underground water retention or detention system for collecting stormwater, rainwater, sewerage, effluent or other waters, and controlled release of the water is disclosed. Typically, the tanks are formed from a plastics or polymeric material such as high density polyethylene. The pipes may be polymer coated corrugated steel pipes. Tanks suitable for use in the water retention and detention systems are also described together with connection fittings for connection of pipes to the tanks. Generally, the connection fittings are adapted to provide structural support to perimeter walls of the tanks about respective openings formed in the tank for the connection of the pipes.

Abstract: A forming apparatus (50) includes a roll former (51) operative to roll form a metal strip (100) to form a profiled metal section (10) of generally C section profile including a pan (12) and a pair of upstanding edge margins (14 and 16). The section profile incorporates a longitudinal precamber which is introduced by the forming apparatus by incorporating a prestretching apparatus (52) upstream from the roll former (51), and a bending apparatus (53) located downstream of the roll former (51). The prestretching apparatus differentially stretches the metal strip (100) in its longitudinal direction so as to form portions (101, 102), which are more elongated than a laterally adjacent portion (103) of the strip (100). The differential stretching compensates for longitudinal shortening of the metal strip in forming the profiled section in the roll former (51). The bending apparatus (53) uses a (3) point bending process and includes a reaction stage (60), a fulcrum stage (61), and an action stage (62).
