  • Patent number: 7311263
Abstract: In an apparatus and a method for handling cards, wherein the cards comprise a memory element that may be read out in a contactless manner via a transponder, and pass through a plurality of handling stations, a card and a card carrier are initially brought together and joined. Subsequently, the card carrier is enveloped. Then a reading operation with regard to the card carrier which has been enveloped is performed so as to determine, on the basis of a signal received from the card carrier enveloped, whether a card is contained in the envelope.

  • Patent number: 7048182
Abstract: In a method and an apparatus for providing a card carrier for bringing it together with a card, the card is initially provided, and card data are acquired from it. On the basis of this card data, a card-carrier blank having a first identification mark is provided. On the basis of the card data, predetermined data and a second identification mark associated with the predetermined data are printed onto the card-carrier blank so as to form the card carrier. Subsequently, the first and the second identification marks are acquired by the card carrier to determine whether the data applied and the blank belong together. If it is determined that the data and the card-carrier blank belong together, the card carrier is provided for bringing it together with the card.

  • Patent number: 6460842
Abstract: A device for superposing sheets of paper comprising a lower vacuum conveyance unit for one row of sheets of paper (R1) and an upper vacuum conveyance unit for another row of sheets of paper (R2). The ends of the vacuum conveyance units can be adjusted independently from each other, crosswise to the direction in which the paper advances (P). One vacuum conveyance unit can be adjusted in a slanted position in relation to the direction in which the paper advances (P) so that it cuts across the vacuum conveyance unit on the opposite side.

  • Patent number: 6418825
Abstract: A device for cutting a paper web in a transverse direction includes a first continuously driven conveyor for moving the paper web through the device, a loop forming station, a cutting device, a clamping device for temporarily retaining the paper web, and a second conveyor for moving the paper web further after it is stored. The second conveyor includes a continuously driven transport roller and pressure rollers that are intermittently pressed onto the transport roller. The clamping device and the lifting device are driven in step with the cutting device so that the paper web is retained by the clamping device and the pressure rollers are lifted from the transport roller while the paper web is cut. The lifting device controls and lifts the pressure rollers of the second conveyor from the transport roller shortly before the paper web is stretched when the loop is undone.

  • Patent number: 6224530
Abstract: A buckle folder machine includes two or three folder pockets and several folding rollers mounted in a folding block which can be detached from the machine frame. The sheets are fed to the folding block via transport devices along an input plane in the direction of travel of the paper and delivered along an output plane in the same direction. The input plane and output plane are situated on substantially the same plane. The folding rollers and machine pockets are arranged in the folding block in such a way that the sheet input and sheet output are also situated in the area of this common plane in line with the position in which the folding block is mounted inside the machine frame. All folding rollers are connected to each other in the folding block via coupling gear wheels positioned on either end of each folding roller.

  • Patent number: 6196959
Abstract: In the case of a method of folding stacks of sheets, which can consist of one or of a plurality of sheets that may have different folding resistances, by supplying a plurality of stacks of sheets to a folding device by means of a temporally successive, cyclic supply which comprises phases of movement and pauses in movement, a stack folding resistance for a respective stack of sheets is first determined on the basis of at least the number and/or the folding resistance of the individual sheets forming a stack of sheets. Following this, the respective stack of sheets is folded, the folding speed used by the folding device for folding said stack of sheets being controlled in dependence upon the stack folding resistance that has been determined for this stack of sheets, the control of the folding speed of the folding device being carried out during respective pauses in movement of the cyclic supply.

  • Patent number: 6007471
Abstract: A curl-suppressing device for a paper web in a paper processing machine has a stationary deflecting bar (1) that extends transversely to the direction of travel (A) of the paper, a deflecting roller (4) parallel to the deflecting bar (1) and arranged downstream of the deflecting bar (1) in the direction of travel of the paper and two supporting plates (3) that carry the ends of the deflecting bar and deflecting roller and may be displaced around a swivelling axis (A3) on a stationary support (9). The paper web (2) to be decurled runs in a S-shaped path between the deflecting bar (1) and the deflecting roller (4) and is frictionally drawn over the deflecting bar (1). A regulating motor is associated to one of the supporting plates (3) to swivel the supporting plate (3) until at least the deflecting bar (1) may be moved out of contact with the paper web (2).
