Abstract: A central entity and/or a remote device in a communication system are designed to address the problem of maintaining upstream synchronization in the remote device after loss of the downstream signal. The system maintains upstream transmissions from the remote device in a Synchronous-Code Division Multiple Access (S-CDMA) or perhaps Synchronous-Time Division Multiple Access (S-TDMA) mode that does not degrade performance caused by via poor upstream timing or a need for re-ranging. By providing novel functionality at the central entity for synchronizing first and second downstream signals and/or by providing novel functionality at the remote device for determining a symbol clock offset between a first terminated downstream signal and a second re-acquired downstream signal, embodiments of the present invention maintain synchronization through the loss of the downstream signal, thereby minimizing the need for re-ranging and avoiding poorly timed upstream bursts.

Abstract: A die-up array integrated circuit (IC) device package and method of making the same is presented. A frame body has opposing first and second surfaces and a central opening that is open at the first and second surfaces. The second frame body surface is mounted to a first stiffener surface. An IC die is mounted to the first stiffener surface within the central opening through the frame body. A planar lid has opposing first and second surfaces. The second lid surface is coupled to the first frame body surface. A first substrate surface is coupled to a second stiffener surface. An array of electrically conductive terminals is coupled to a second substrate surface. The stiffener, frame body, and lid form an enclosure structure substantially enclosing the IC die. The die enclosure spreads heat from the IC die, and shields EMI emanating from and radiating toward the IC die.
Abstract: A table searching system for facilitating high speed linear searching of a table of information by a plurality of searching agents is provided. The system includes: a memory unit for storing a table of information including a plurality of data entries each having data contents; a plurality of searching agents each being communicatively coupled with the memory unit, and having a port for receiving an associated search key value; and a memory controller unit providing a centralized interface between the memory unit and each of the agents, the controller unit being operative to control the memory unit to provide the contents of a current one of the table entries to each of the agents during each of a plurality of cycles of operation. Each of the searching agents is operative to determine an associated best matching one of the data entries based on comparisons between the associated key value and the contents of the data entries provided by the memory unit.
